add those 2, ebron, the fat albert at guard they signed and it adds up.

did they even try to get a vet in here to play OL like they did with the defense.

are OL not allowed to sign those type of contracts?

PS. why are they relying on a late 30s QB off a major arm injury. they've had a couple of chances to move from him but didn't
I think you're right that Ingram's deal has voidable years.

Schobert does have a voidable year, but I don't think it's until 2025. He's just cheap this year. I doubt that he plays at the $9.7M cap hit he's currently scheduled to have next year. If we decide to keep him, I wouldn't be surprised if we restructure. Cap hit for cutting him pre-Jun1 is $1.9M. Post June 1 is <$0.5M. Would you honestly rather have Spillane out there after the preseason he had? We got Schobert for peanuts.

I'm sure they were also looking for OL. And I think I was pretty vocal that we should have prioritized OL the draft instead of what I think was a luxury pick in the 2nd.

We even brought in an OL. Turner is a pretty similar signing to Ingram in that they were both given up on by their former team due to injury / not living up to previous contract. Turner's cap hit this year is only a little less than Schober + Ingram (although no voidable years I think).

I would have been in favor of bringing in another guy. Especially at T where we looked really weak. I also would have liked a legit vet C...actually I wanted to draft the C in the 2nd, but we loved PF. Hell, I would have been excited if we took 3 OL in the first 4 - 5 picks this year...and that was before DD was out.

      I think it's a solid "both".

Guys are NFL open but not wide open because everything is mostly underneath.

I bet DB’s from opposing teams could play another full game because they rarely have to chase after our WR’s.

Maybe Canada is struggling to find what Roethlisberger does well at this point? The hurry up/no huddle (that they don't have according to the QB) seemed to spark something. But it reminded me of backyard ball rather than anything schematic.

if they have schobert at that cap # next year, they should be ashamed of themselves.

            spillane? no
but i'd rather have a guy in there like wilson today or schobert when drafted by the browns.
someone on a cheap contract that we just drafted without a high pick. both those guys were 3rd and 4th round picks.
cincy and cleveland can find these guys but we cant????

how often have we seen those type of guys in recent years? mid round picks the team developed into players?
            spence, sylvester, allen
our mid round picks have left a lot to be desired

Washington was to slow to get there....he had to throw it when he did because, Ben would have been sacked....

The problem here was "where" he threw it, not "when" he threw it.

We haven't had accurate deep balls for a long time, so it's not unique to this play.

Throw the ball 60 times a game with the same unimaginative plays as last year.

Ben can't throw deep anymore but who cares? We don't have a WR that can get behind anybody. When's the last time we drafted or brought in someone that can actually stretch the field. Even a one-trick scrub like Henry Ruggs forces the safeties to stay back.

I understand the cap issues we had. But whoever on this coaching staff that felt our offensive line could be even mediocre should be fired immediately. they're far too stupid to be coaching or evaluating personnel in this league.
Well thats BS, I clearly saw Washington and Claypool behind the defense, both should of been TD's but Ben missed both.

Because Ben is done. You can't properly/accurately criticize or critique the WR's until you have a crediable QB. We don't have a crediable QB anymore.

Ben simply can't throw an accurate deep ball anymore.

                      his arm is shot.

The one post game question(s) I’m waiting for that no one has asked.

Can Ben make every throw required of an NFL QB today? Can he thread the needle? Can he zip a frozen rope to the back corner of the end zone?

This team took a left off the expressway and ended up in Destination F@cked. They are bad, the coaches suck, and this is going to be a long season....

That is a fair statement. The deep ball lacks velocity and accuracy. It wobbles. Tomlin won't bench him, he wait until he gets hurt to make a move.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

And the inconsistency from everyone on our OL means we aren't likely to be successful on long drives.
