I am not a fan of this response either.

I would love to know the actual reason we ran that play (or at least threw to that receiver).

It doesn't seem to fit Ben's description of we couldn't throw to the endzone so we threw it to the flat and gave him some blocking to see if he could get in.

I generally believe that answers in press conferences are the result of media training and not the truth.

I do think that whoever was responsible for that play will have some interesting meetings this week.

Does this team actually practice? Slow starts, so many penalties, players clearly not on the same page with each other, it's an overall poorly coached team there's no way around it. Cracks me up seeing Tomlin yet again put the loss solely on the players, what a jackass.
But certain fans said it was all fichtners fault and Canada would utilize the talent and scheme….
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

good article on the depot about how stupid Canada's run scheme was yesterday. this guy looks like he could be in over his head

Colbert deserves alot of blame for bringing back a rickety old QB and putting him behind this dumpster fire of an OL.

and changing QBs won't change a damn thing, imo. we saw what rudolph could do 2 years ago. this team is in a big black hole and climbing out is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible

It’s called overthinking it and outsmarting themselves. The play worked so well it lost a yard.

Apparently a comment was made by a coach or QB "we ran out of plays to run" at that point..... wtf, huh?!? I need to find a link to this.

I think fans said that Fitchner was a puppet for Ben who was calling the offense.

And we're running what looks like a similar offense this year under a different OC.

It's in the link I posted upthread. He said something like "we ran out of bullets" or some other stupid coach speak thing.

Clearly looks, sounds, and was terrible.

I think he's running cover for someone...maybe the OC for calling such a horrible play if the RB was really the "right" option there...maybe the QB because he's the one that ultimately decides to throw it 5 yards behind the line on 4th and 10.

It would be interesting to know what actually happened on that play. But I don't think we'll ever know..

This is on Colbert and his bargain basement approach to fixing the O-line.
And it’s on Colbert and Rooney for bringing in Canada .

                    Maybe a couple.
Fichtner was scapegoat #1 this off season.
If your memory is as bad as mine, all you have to do is go back and search a little.

Roethlisberger's comments smack to me of "hey, I wanted to run something different but my hands are tied because I have to run what is called". Just spitballing, was one of the conditions to him returning was agreeing to run the play that the OC calls? It sure seems Roethlisberger is smart enough to check out of a run play when he sees the OL is outnumbered at the LOS.
On a positive note, it was encouraging that half time adjustments were made to counter the looks by CIN. But the damning question is why have the first half scheme in the first place when it was already on tape that CIN did this to their first two opponents? Was this simply testing the OL?

well Josh Allen looked more like the 2019 version than the 2020 version ... took him a few weeks to get going but he seems to have righted the ship this week vs a good Redskins def. ( yes redskins ) .... if we played them again Im guessing it would be more like 34-6
@dwinsgames on twitter .... Kenny Pickett is who I thought he was ....

Agree with all the grades except for Melvin Ingram with regard to roughing the passer penalty. That was the most absurd abuse of the protect-the-QB rule I've yet to see. Ingram pretty much held on to him and laid Burrow down like an infant so he wouldn't get hurt and the ref threw the flag. Awful.
