Does anything really make sense in this crazy time we live?
Yet again we chase immortality one more time. One more season.
Is it a new beginning? Najee might think so. Or is it a final chapter in the Book of Ben?
No one knows what lies ahead. But most have already written us off long before the season even began. And when I think back on the hunch I had preceding the XL SuperBowl season, I sense this parallel meta verse replaying itself like we are watching GroundHog Day.
As teams and player compete to be the one, no one is giving us a chance. Not a thought. Not a consideration.
We got no line. We got a noddle arm QB with backups that no one would want on their practice squad. We have underachievers at the skill positions.
On D, we got some slow old vets that may have passed their prime. Our best player remains un extended. Questions abound in our secondary likely losing a little more ground than we gained. We fell apart last season post Bud injury. This year we no longer have our most versatile playmaker in Hilton which should not be overlooked.
Every excuse is there for the team to explain away this season. Every excuse is available for fans to lose interest.
This season probably is not going to start pretty.
But it is not how you start. It comes down to how you finish.
This is going to be a work in progress. And I am not throwing in the towel. Ben came back. Why? He has got to believe in something. He has to have some hunger to want to go out on top.
I am rolling with #7. I think Najee just might be the player to give #7 enough of an assist to get over the top.
I do not think this season is going to make any sense. There will be ups and downs. Hope and despair.
But Mike T will not let this team give up. We have been patient with Mike for a while just like we were with Cowher and patience is about to get rewarded because patience points us to all the good things in life during turmoil.
These are no doubt crazy times. And there can only be one immortal who pulls us out and lifts us up. And at the end of the year, it will be our Pittsburgh Steelers lifting their next Lombardi for the case.
Who ride?
