when it comes to new players on the team, I give quite a bit of deference to colbert and co. if they think Joseph can help the team at a good price, I'm riding that train with them. Let me see how the season unfolds before I second guess the pros.

As I write this, it may seem a bit too effusive to some - and I recognize that may be so. But I'm still really impressed with how the Steelers FO has put this years team together, how they drafted, how they managed the cap and what the future brings. Last I checked, the Steelers are now #8 in the league with cap space. We're still making moves, signing players and yet I believe they have what they need to get the deal done with TJ. That's lightyears better than how we looked in March. Oh, and while I'm no cap expert - I think the majority of our dead money expires this year. Which means, we might finish this season with TJ signed long term - a very young up and coming offense (other than Ben), a solid defense and boat loads of cash to perhaps start figuring out our next QB. I've looked at a number of cap sites - and no one has the steelers worse than #3 in 2022.

so yeah, I'm gonna trust their judgment on Joseph.

My best friend is a raiders fan. Joseph is a hard hitter coming down in the box. And he’s always looking to make the
      “ KA-POW” hit . He’s terrible in coverage thou.

I like that we showed interest in him earlier also before he signed with the Raidahs.

Colbert has earned our benefit of doubt when it comes to these types of free agent signings.

as a correction ... we had the league highest free cap space for 2022 but all these signings ( since the releasing of Decastro and the Ben contract) has several voidable years included on them , so while they are 1 year deals they are kicking the can on the finances down the road in these deals and taking up several million in cap space over the next few years diminishing that exorbitant amount of space in 2022 and beyond ... Just so everyone is on the same page here in terms of what and how they are managing some of this
@dwinsgames on twitter .... Kenny Pickett is who I thought he was ....

... it's nearly $20M in cap space that is on voidable contracts! That's 10% of 2022 total cap. That is one or two premium player contracts. As one writer said the Steelers are trying to walk the line between all-in with Roethlisberger this season vs rebuilding for the future. Not sure how well that is going to work vs just gutting the roster and starting new like MIA did a couple seasons ago.

              And it shouldn't cost much.
Agreed. He is better than our 3rd safety and cheap on the cap! Good move.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

                How long is the deal?

Is he maybe a replacement for Edmunds next season if he pans out?

I don't watch college football, but if he's good it would be cool if he ended up with us.

I think some of these signings may be covid related. We don't know the vax status of all the Steeler players but I'm sure the team does. If an unvax'd player tests positive he will be out 10 days. Imagine if one of them is a DB. OL is another concern.

They still have the second most at this point per OverTheCap. The TJ signing will change that and when Minkah gets signed next year it'll impact it more. Heyward and Tuitt deals start to kick up around that time too. Lot of it will depend on what they do at QB going forward. Most of the void year contracts come due in 2022 with only Sutton's going beyond that IIRC.

They did make a big deal about Harris wearing the yellow "not vaccinated" arm band in camp.

My guess is that other high impact players were unvaccinated, we would have also got stories about it.

                            But who knows.
