When you suck and it's good for you

Haskins playing as bad a he did may be the best thing that happens to him. He had a bunch of PRESEASON success against lower half of rosters. When he played against the "varsity" he was bad on Friday. Maybe this refocuses him on the job ahead to really be able to compete to be the post-Ben starter.

there is no rush which is why picking up Haskins was a no brainer.

Anyone who watched the game also knows the OL was terrible in pass protection.

Haskins has to play better but its hard to go through your progressions when the OL is getting abused.

Haskins gets a year to watch Ben work which should help immensely for his development.

After all that he went through with Washington, you think he STILL needs another lesson in order to "refocus" him? If focus is what he's lacking at this point, I don't think he's capable of focus.

He just turned 24 in May. I’m not using age as a crutch but he’ll need a kick in the pants from time to time. I’m not giving up on him.

He won the 3rd string QB spot.
Nothing tragic in having a former 1st Round QB sitting in that spot in hopes he progresses in the future.

another lesson? This IS the lesson.

Who cares about Washington. Their front office sucks. We got him on the cheap, he’s young and there is no rush.

I thought the title of it sounded more perverted than political.

Steelers tried one of those already. Fortunately I don't think he ever took a roster spot.

My take. Mark Madden is right, he'll be out of the league by 2023. Madden has been right on quite a few things lately. Haskins could not bet out Rudolph who was benched in favor of an undratfed rookie.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

the good news is that it cost us nothing to find out.

Exactly. Haskins was on a different program than Mason, and is so far succeeding. Rudolph came into training camp with the short term goal of being the #2. Haskins came into training camp with the short term goal of determining if there is any possibility that he is not a lost cause and could one day develop into the long term answer at QB. Rudolph was always making the 53, his success is in retaining the backup role. Haskins was an unknown quantity and his success is remaining on the 53.

It is in the long term that they both have the same goal and will one day have to compete.
