2022 draft picks / trades

So taking a quick look ahead to the 2022 draft we have no 4th ,5th or 6th rounder at this time. We do have an extra 7th and will likely have an extra 3rd for the loss of Bud.
Our 4th rounder was traded to Miami for the Loudermilk kid who looks to have some serious promise.
Our 5th rounder goes to the Jets in the Williamson trade but returns a 7th to us as part of that deal.
Our 6th now has been traded to Jags for Schoebert. He is a proven ILB and someone that we needed.

So overall the above trades I have no problem with. Doing some wheeling n dealing can sometimes be beneficial. Loudermilk n Schoebert may turn out very well for us.
Okay so where am I going with this? We are now a team with some depth and some quality rookies and 2nd year players who may now allow us to recoup some of our lost draft capital. Harris may make Snell expendable. Our 2nd round TE PF may allow us to trade a guy like Ebron. The fact a kid like Rader is showing he belongs also helps us here. Haskins may be an addition that will allow us to move MR. Those are 3 possible moves that could happen and just something to throw out there. Long shot moves would be moving Washington ( I like him so I would prefer he stays but that subject has already been touched upon). It could happen. Lastly our rookie punter looks like a pro so if a GM got desperate enough a 7th rounder for Berry in 2023? Real long shot there but stranger things have happened in the NFL.
We keep drafting rather well so if we can add some extra draft capital for 22 this team should stay in contention moving forward.

No worries; there's always a pick or two from the 2023 draft that can be thrown in if need be.

I think that there's some stuff to think about here. And I like the idea of getting picks for guys we aren't really going to use.

I think Snell might fit well into this category. Although I don't know how much we can get for him if teams are scared off the by fact that he's been out all preseason so far. I was thinking that he'd be the main ball carrier is Harris goes down. But Ballage has looked OK in the reps he had.

I don't think we trade Ebron because we don't have any proven options after that. Even if we like PF, I think we want to have 2 guys we can play. And we might like Radar as a guy that can make the roster, but I don't think we want him to be an injury away from starting. If we think we can compete for at least a playoff spot this year, I don't think it makes sense to get rid of our only proven TE. And he is the best receiving TE we've had in a while...even if he's not a good blocker.

I don't think we should trade Mason. While I think his ceiling is something like below average starter, it makes sense to hold the lottery ticket one more year to see if he develops. We already have the contract. If someone gave me a 3rd or better, I'd probably do it. But I don't think we're getting that for a guy that didn't play well who isn't on a cheap contract anymore.

It looks like we'll pick up a 3rd, 5th and 6th as supplemental picks. The 6th will come if Haeg plays less that 25% of the snaps (which we all hope happens).

So we'll likely have 1, 2, two 3s, 5, 6 and two 7s. 8 picks, pretty average haul.

I think if we want to move up we'll need to trade 1s in '22 and '23, and probably the 2 or 3 in '22 as well.

maybe give Haskins/Rudolph a full year to see what they can do, and if we don't play well then we'll have an early draft pick the following year.

Good point with the Comps.

I don't like the idea of trading up unless we do pretty poorly this year. I think you want to be in the top 10 and hopefully top 5 if you're picking a QB. And getting there from the 20s is pretty expensive. Especially if there's a potential franchise QB available.
