I mean it's camp so I keep that in context. But, right now I'm encouraged about what I'm hearing.

I read about that as well. It doesn't seem to me like MR is going to make it past this season.

To be honest with you, I wish they kept Haskins and Dobbs and cut MR. They won't but I do wish for it.

I think Mason will definitely be on the roster next year.

I think the only way he's not is if Ben sticks around AND we draft a QB high. Then we'd have to pick between Mason and Haskins (who should also be around because he'll be on a cheap RFA deal). But I don't think Ben is coming back.

I think that Mason and Haskins battle it out for the starting job next off season. Maybe with a rookie thrown in if we pick high enough / fall in love with someone in the draft.

If Ben stays healthy I could see him play 2-3 more seasons before he hangs it up.

I have often thought that as well. Big season coming up.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I just have a feeling Ben is going to have a monster season.

So do I and I think it has a lot to do with how we exited the playoffs. Unfinished business. First offensive play this year I want Ben to throw a bomb to Claypool.

On our first play I want Ben to hand it off to Najee.

How about we split the difference and Ben throws a bomb to Najee.

The first part of your statement is critical. And with the OL he has I'd say odds are very good that he will not play all 17 games (or even 16). I'll put the over/under at 14.

                            That's a very good bet.

Maybe...but...gulp...if that happens, I don't think it will be with us.

The downside for the team with the dummy year contract is that Ben will be a UFA next season.

I highly doubt that we tag him.

And I don't think he'd go for less than market rate to be on a team that will likely have a fair number of holes after a bunch of departures this season.

You never know, but I think retirement or chasing a ring with a strong contender are more likely than him coming back to us. With retirement being the most likely outcome IMO.

I don't know, that is a tough question. If he does want to play longer (and that's a big if) he does have roots firmly planted in the community and young children in school. I don't think Ben would want to break the bank either, he has already shown he is willing to take a pay cut.
