    What's the worst "good pick"?

I know there are a handful of day 2 threads, but i had a thought.

The other day, in one of these threads i did a 4-round "what's the worst that could happen" draft and actually still came away with what would have been decent. I assumed Harris and Etienne were gone, all the OT and all the good CB. That thought process got me excited for the talent in this draft

    1. What's the worst that could happen? Assume Humphrey, Dickerson, Meinerz, and all of our popular round 2 targets are gone. Who would you take?
    2. What's the best that could happen? Assume someone expected to go earlier is still on the board (or that the team trades up a few slots). Who is that person?

    I'll start:

    Best: Teven Jenkins
Yes, it's a wish. I don't expect him to last long enough on day 2 for the team to have a chance, but I certainly wouldn't be upset if the team traded up to get him either. Stranger things have happened.

    Worst: Walker Little
This is the crap that excites me about the draft. This is considered a reach of a round 2 pick, but, this dude was profiled as a borderline 1st rounder by some.

I feel like we're all going to be pumped after this draft, more than any other in recent history.

Who's your best / worst? (and don't be goofy and take another RB)

There general excitement throughout this poster room right now. Everyone seems to be on the same page as far as what we need. It's nice when everyone is rowing together.

        Best case scenario?

Humphrey in the 2nd (and Little falls to us in the 3rd...who knows where that guy is going to get drafted since he hasn't played in almost 2 years).

          Agreed.

Even all of the mocks had the same positions, just different preferences — partly, based on expectations of who might be around.

i’d say that at least 60% wanted Harris pre-draft, and 90% or more were “accepting” of it as an option

Task is a legit worst case, round 2 pick.

knowing that during the early offseason there was round 1 talk around him, it’s kind of interesting to think of him as a “worst case round 2 pick”.

Do i *want* him? No. Would i call it a “bad” pick? Also no.

            THAT has me fired up

Agreed. I didn’t want Harris at 24 pre-draft, but I’m accepting and happy to have him on the team. I agree he was the #1 RB so we can only go up from here.

If the 3 C are gone?
Best- if OT, Radunz; if C, I wait until Round 3 or 4 for Green, Hill or Hainsey; if other position, Molden-CB .

Worst: Eichenberg at OT; Samuels or Campbell at CB

                Still many good options

I agree, he wasn't my pick due to NFL RB shelf life and being a senior. Also, many needs on the OL. However, now that we drafted him I am good with it and we should be able to get a quality O-lineman in round 2 (if we don't get cute).

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

If there was a run on OL in the first and we went Harris and had nothing but scraps at OL it would make people hesitant or upset.

I think the depth of OL in this draft and whats left sets us up to get a legit C and decent OT.. and also gives us a chance to scoop up a WR and LB later in the draft.

I agree. The drop from RB #3 was large and RB #3 would not be available @ 55. However, the drop in OL between Rd 1 and Rd 2 is minimal and there will be plenty @ 55.

I think that the worst would be Myers from OSU. If the top 3 Centers go ahead of #55 and the team feels the desperation, they might go to the next guy on the C list.

I don't think that this would be a bad pick, but considering there are 3 options ahead of him right now and you are forced to draft C for the first time in many years, I could see them making this pick if in that situation.

Apparently the team wanted to play.
