    Banner & Fieler

For mine, these 2 are key FA’s in regard to what the Steelers do this off season.

If both can be re-signed, I believe that the OL, outside of the C position, are set with Banner shifting to LT, Dotson at LG, DeCastro at RG and Fieler at RT. I’m under no illusion that Banner is the perfect LT, but...he was LT under Klemm in college, and his strength, run blocking, was AV’s weakness, and also the area of biggest need in improvement. I think having Banner and Fieler offers the best run blocking options on the edge, for what I’d imagine will be relatively inexpensive outlay. Chuks Okorafor can be the swing OT. And this leaves the Steelers the freedom to draft an OT without having to have them start.

BJ Finney added to be the back up interior OL is a smart move, then you draft the best Center and plug them in. But he has to be more the run block type, so this is where I like Creed Humphrey.

In my opinion, this gets the Steelers OL back into that ground and pound style OL, that suits RB’s like Snell and Connor, and reduces the need for Ben to throw 12 billion passes...
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.

Finney is a good move I agree. Hassenhauer I know he was a Bama guy but he gets manhandled. I saw Big Dan destroy him at Latrobe in 19 n not sure how he even stuck on the PS. Drafting a mauler at center with Banner at T will go a long way in getting us back to a power running game we have been missing.

I don't think that Banner manning the blind side can be a plan. It is "Plan B" at best. As beloved as he is, he is a guy who has bounced around, was a surprise winner of the RT spot last year, coming off of a season ending injury, and now expected to move over to the line's most important position. This from a guy who has probably logged more career snaps as a tackle eligible than a tackle.

Having Banner, Chuks, and Feiler under contract (only one of them so far) is typical Steeler strategy. It allows them to enter the draft without being forced to go after a position. But if a ten-year plug and play guy is available in the first or second, you grab him and don't look back. Banner and Chuks are nice players to have on your roster, not so nice to have as your starters.

        Good points.

Going into the season with Banner on the left, and Chuks on the right, with a statue at QB, is scary to even think about.

In my mind.. signing Feiler is a top priority on the OL. No, he wasnt a stellar left guard... but he was our top ranked OL in 2019 when he played right tackle. Hes a few levels above Chuks and Banner.. and needs to be retained.

I agree with what you say, but need to edit one thing, Banner was recruited by Klemm not coached by him, since Banner chose UCLA or was it USC, a different school.
Even if they draft an OT in the 3 or 4th round they will still compete for the starting job. ( yes the draft is tha deep)

Agreed. On Banner, I flat out question if he has the feet to play tackle. He will need to use his size and technique for pass protection .
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Totally on board with getting Feiler back to RT. I think we're good with him and Dotson. Not as sure about the other 3 spots on the line. Plus imho, a pass blocking TE should also be a top priority for this team.

Not to mention there's not a RB on the roster that I'd trust to pick up a free blitzer on 3rd downs.

Also not sure, but I think Chuks is a better LT prospect than Banner. Banner looks like the prototypical RT to me. And the team must have had some confidence in him there because they were willing to move Fieler out of that spot for him.

I think that the best RT on the roster last season....was the LG. I have no idea how that situation was allowed to play out that way.
