Who fills the role of the tough, middle of the field, receiving option?
If Juju leaves...

I think this is a good question.
I'd hope that we would move guys around a lot.
We don't have a pure slot guy in the top 3 I don't think.
Maybe Ebron would get even more of that work?
And hopefully we'd have fewer of those types of passes as we run more and stretch the field more. -
I think that the replacement for JuJu is Washington. He might not play the same game as JJSS but he has many of the same attributes.
We would still have
1) a big, young fast, potential game breaker on the outside
2) a small, quick, shifty receiver who can do damage once he hits the field with the ball in his hands
3) a tough, sure handed, stocky, functionally strong receiver
How the OC gets the ball to each of them is his challenge, but I think the same skillsets are still on the roster.Comment

There's decent free agents available that could be signed cheaper. Sanu would be one to take a look at.Comment

I think getting a veteran WR to be the adult in the WR room is a good idea, as long as we can get them cheap (that won’t be a problem this year). They’ll likely be our 4th WR, but if they can show the young guys how to act like a pro on and off the field, it’s worth it.
Sanu, no offense but not on my list. I live in NE and saw a lot of him with the Cheats, and he really looked bad.Comment

Chadman too believes that Washington has more to offer- the only drawback being he never seems to have been asked to run that route tree. Enron makes sense, but Chadman questions his ‘toughness’ to take catches over the middle, knowing he is to be hit hard. Claypool doesn’t appear to be that type. And Johnson is AB without the attitude, probably built too slight for that role, and has somewhat inconsistent hands.
It could be a good time to add that rough and tumble 2nd TE to the roster, to be our new Heath Miller, as Juju, despite being a WR, has taken that role of late..The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

a lot of WR’s who go to the Pats tend to look bad because they are forced into a system and not used to their strengthsI think getting a veteran WR to be the adult in the WR room is a good idea, as long as we can get them cheap (that won’t be a problem this year). I think it's probably very hard to be a leader when you're 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.I think getting a veteran WR to be the adult in the WR room is a good idea, as long as we can get them cheap (that won’t be a problem this year). I too agree that Washington was the first name that came to mind. But I also take solace in that the Steelers do a pretty darn good job of scouting and drafting WR's. Hopefully that trend will continue as I believe we won't be able to afford JuJu.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment
