    Tomlin: "won't maintain status quo."

Hasn't he said this the last few years? And then how much changed? Well, he just said it again, and I'm not buying it.

For the vast majority of his tenure as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin has had his team playing at a high level in the final months of the season. That is, up until recently, because over the past few years, the Steelers have gone from being one of the best teams […]

Some change always happens every year even if you don't want it to. All this is is lip service. For one thing, with so many players hitting the open market (Conner, JuJu, Al, Dupree, Alualu, etc.) they are forced to accept "change" this year.

And who else is so sick of Ben saying "I got to play better" but pretty much hasn't save 1 half vs. Indy. So sick of the same old rhetoric.

Didn’t he maintain status quo the last couple seasons?

Do you think he’s picked this year’s scapegoat yet?

How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

      Whisper,

You've got to look at the bigger picture. With Tomlin still here, he's going to prove our point even more. With no Ben around, no franchise QB, we won't even make the playoffs.

While Cowher made the playoffs and AFC Championship games without a legit QB. Things will be hammered home in a crystal clear manner how inferior Tomlin is.

Just sit back and enjoy the Tomlin excuses makers efforts in explaining things away. Let's watch Tomlin circle the drain now.

Tomlin meeting or exceeding expectations would help that.

The irony of Tomlins statement is that outside of the Rooney’s, the ‘status quo’ has always been keeping the HC. Noll and Cowher left of their own decision.

Did you truly expect "nah, we're good. No changes needed. Maybe a tweak here or there"? For the record, during Tomlin's tenure (off the top of my head):

              • 3 OCs
              • 2 DCs
              • 2 ST coaches
              • at least 3 DB coaches
              • 2 QB coaches
              • 2 OL coaches
              • 2 or 3 WR coaches

my numbers could be off cause I haven't looked it up but the point is every season has changes based on previous year's performance. maybe we want different changes based on what we saw (like D Smith being shown the door last season) but the staff rarely stays still.

we know the change that’s needed.. and its not Tomlin.

Too many turnovers and poor playoff starts AT HOME for a QB who takes up over 10% of our cap space.

1 bad int accounted for 7 of Cleveland first 28 points.
with Cleveland making a big play on 3rd and 4 to scorch the defense without anyone laying a hand on Landry.

On their 3rd score, they drove 65 yards against the #3 defense in the league. Missed tackles and getting run over by Chubb and hunt

Yeah. The defense ( Tomlin’s baby) sure looked ready to play

I’m not sure those numbers are high over 14 years.
Even if they are, how many coach changes were exciting or encouraging?
Almost everyone was in-house for the major positions and a few old scubs at lesser positions.

Hmmmm, looking at that list, which new coach was better than the one that they replaced?
Someone could argue a couple..... maybe.
                          Pretty pathetic really.

Do you think another coach couldn’t have 3 or more playoffs wins in a decade with a loaded roster and HOF qb in his prime?
