    Okay.. lol.

    interesting
A lot of steeler fans hate the Tomlin phrase “The standard is the Standard” but expect that EVERY SINGLE SEASON. The Fans standard.
Steeler life without Ben will be back to a lot of Cowher type seasons IF this defense stays good or becomes great. Much worse if this defense can’t keep reloading.
Also that’s If the future QB choices can be average or slightly better. I just hope before I die they can get there 3rd HOF QB along with continued defensive success.
Not holding my breath. It took 8-9 years to rebuild a good enough defense.
There was also to many years between Bradshaw and Ben.
We could be in for a LONG SB drought like the 80’s and early 90’s. Possibly much worse. Just hope I never end up like the Browns 26 yr drought!

someone pointed out Tomlin has used the nameless gray faces line. I think its just JuJu being a football player trying to sound smarter than he is..

Not sure he wants out. I would think of a few things he could do if he really wanted out.
I expect he has to just ask his agent to get him the best deal on the market. Steelers are “cheap” paying most WR’s and other positions in the past. Juju’s market is kind of like Bell. And others even Wallace. The Steelers will make there offer and it won’t be the best offer IMO. Like many in the past. Probably even worse with the covid cap number. He has to do nothing like AB did to walk away. That is just silly media spinning talk. And grumpy old heads crying about tic toc dancing. Like this team was ever going to do better then 12-4 maybe 13-3. There just crying not being in the fantasy land 16-0.

On a different note I wonder if juju will end up more Wallace or Sanders. Better pick a team with a good QB. Good WR’s need a Good QB! Or they flame out imo.

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster – PFF predicts that Smith-Schuster will sign a four-year, $68 million ($17M APY) contract with the New York Jets during free agency. They go on to project that Smith-Schuster will get $35 million total guaranteed and $22 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Dave’s Take: I suppose Smith-Schuster landing with the jets and potentially reuniting with his former college quarterback Sam Darnold is plausible. It will be tough for the Steelers to re-sign him and especially if the NFL salary cap for 2021 comes in under the 2020 number of $198.2 million. As for Smith-Schuster’s contract value being projected at $17 million per year by PFF, I think that’s very plausible as well. In fact, below is a contract estimation I put together several weeks ago for Smith-Schuster and one structured the way the Steelers like to do deals. My example comes in at $17.5 million over five years with Smith-Schuster getting $17 million fully guaranteed and $20 million overall in his first year. In short, I believe PFF and I are in the ballpark when it comes to Smith-Schuster’s free agent market value.

It's hard to believe that the start of the 2021 NFL league year is already now just a little more than two full months away. With that revelation now out

Anyone who's followed Juju over the years know that his behavior hasn't been strange. This is who he is as a person. Generally Juju is a good dude. He has a Juju foundation.

Some people just like to make a big deal out of nothing. Just read the context of what Juju said and you will understand.

Most estimates are that the 2021 salary cap will be $176 million, a decrease of $22.2 million or 11.2 percent from 2020. So most teams will be challenged to keep their star players. A team which may make a quick turnaround is Jacksonville. In addition to getting the top draft pick, they are projected to be 100M under the cap. So they have the potential to have a great QB along with a great free agent bolstered OL.

$17M a year for a No. 2 receiver seems awfully high. Hope the Steelers don't bite on that one.

I contract in the NFL isn't about the number of dollars per year. When will people understand that players im the NFL don't get paid that way?????

I think Sanders. Juju has more tools in the toolbox than Wallace.

I think he'd be a great add for a team with a young QB. A good security blanket. And still pretty young.

Would prefer to keep him if we were rebuilding or not. But don't think we have the room, or maybe just that it might be better to use the room elsewhere.

                    He is a Hines Ward.

JuJu can do it all underneath, he’s physical and can block but he isn’t a speed guy.

I understand guarantees, signing bonus, roster bonus, cap hit, etc. But the bottom line is the bottom line if the contract remains in place for the duration.

So an easier question is would you be willing to fork over $17M on a 1 yr deal for JJSS? fyi, $16.5M is the avg team cap hit for the WR position. Also note that six playoff teams spend less than 10% of their cap on the position.

It's still not about the money per year. The bottom line is how the contract is structured. The Steelers. Juju, and other players can make it work. The Steelers generally seem to structure contracts where players have to earn a large % of their money.

If the Steelers value Juju and Juju wants to stay they will make it work. The Steelers will figure it out once all the variables are in place.

Structuring is about kicking the can down the road. Why would they do that when they have demonstrated the ability to draft top tier WRs for much better value? The Steelers generally don't re-up a WR contract unless that player is a true #1 gamechanger. That isn't JJSS.

If JuJu isn’t a game changer then he shouldn't cost game changing money. I wouldn’t pay big money for him but if we can get a deal where both sides are happy, make it happen.

dizz, you know the answer to that... a lot of stupid teams pay stupid money to players they don't draft on their own or can't develop.
