Now the most bashed guy on this forum Mike Tomlin?
No credit for SBs because he coached Cowhers declining players to greatness? Gets to a championship game and lost to a dynasty in their building with "his players" yet the old narrative persists?

When the most bashed Steeler in the history of this forum has success, you better believe ya'll gonna hear it!!!

I don't ever want to be proven an idiot by my own teams success. If this team tanks you know the haters will be out in droves.

In think the heart of the issue is the correlation between loneliness and negativity on social media. Generally speaking, people who are the most negative tend to be the most lonely and isolated in society according to some studies.

In todayÂ’s world, we are all more isolated and lonely, bored, whatever you want to call it. So what I see happening here and in other places is generally positive people looking for ways to call out others seeking that same attention driven by the same loneliness and isolation.

ItÂ’s unfortunate weÂ’re in a place like this and I really donÂ’t blame either side and think itÂ’s an artifact of the world we now live in.

To be clear, IÂ’m not speaking of the gut reaction to sports or gut reaction to a disagreement. The issue is more of the obsession. For example, itÂ’s 100% rational in the moment to curse Tomlin or Ben or whomever for a boneheaded play or string of games or poor performances that let down your expectations. Holding onto things is a weird obsession that ties back to loneliness and isolation and lack of purpose or meaning. Becoming obsessed with the obsessed is even worse. ItÂ’s like picking on the kid with special needs in school. ItÂ’s becoming the bully which has even more issues of pain and isolation and not fitting in. It represents a deficit. And thatÂ’s unfortunate.

Im not sure weÂ’d be here in normal times. But it also kinda surprises me because in these weird times, the Steelers are a great escape from reality. And isnÂ’t the whole point we should be fanatic in some way about our team both positive and negative.

Getting caught up in other fans feels like everyone is caught up in the misery of our times and the politics of our day.

IMHO, this is something either a SuperBowl or a terrible season that goes down in flames can easily cure. This whole sentiment reinforces why SuperBowl or Bust is more critical now that ever.

When you said you would NOT "I told you so" if we tank it was a reply to me. I appreciate the sentiment. Someone else replied in a way to upset you. He is the only one that accused you in the way you describe.

I literally had you among others in mind when I opened this thread saying, "I know for many of you the dislike of Tomlin was never personal.".

But here is the reality. During the history of this forum, if there are two sides debating a topic, as EITHER side appears right they will call out the other side.

I'm a die-hard Steelers fan, Been for 50 years! Been an Athlete, Coach and have loved Sports my whole life...Steelers, Bucs, Pens, Celtics, PSU...Live them all but, The Steelers have always been Fave!

Ok, So here's the thing ( one final time ) lol...I do not like Tomlin, big deal...I think he's vastly OVER- rated and has cost us various big wins!

With that being said, I root like hell for Da Steelers every week! I hope like Hell they go 17-0...I would NEVER root against them, just to say " I told you so "

The hypothetical question keeps getting asked on here " what are THEY ( me and others ) gonna say if / and or when , we lose "...This question just keeps getting asked, over and over...why?

If we're constantly gonna do that, I will take/ ask the opposite ( because I'm not a worthy fan ) in some eyes...

Iffffffffffff we go 15-1, Top seed, healthy, and go into the playoffs flying as the top seed...and say we lose our 1st game to NE 40-14...
