NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the initial diagnosis for Steelers OT Zach Banner is a torn ACL.
He'll be moved to season-ending injured reserve in the coming days. Already short starters in the trenches with David DeCastro (knee) still recovering and his replacement, Stephen Wisniewski, suffering a torn pectoral on Monday night, Pittsburgh will revert to rookie RG Kevin Dotson and RT Chukwuma Okorafor in the interim. It's a disastrous situation for Benny Snell, who is expected to replace James Conner (ankle) in the short-term.

Let's let these guys play in a game before we are ready to give up on the season...some guys are so depressing. Keep in mind Chuks was in a tight battle with Banner and has game experience. Dotson is raw but was considered a steal coming out of the draft.

The Steelers plucked Jerald Hawkins (OT) off the Texans PS. He was a former draft pick of the Steelers.

maybe a soon to be bad team has an extra OL vet they wouldn't mind parting with for a mid round draft pick

FWIW Banner was a 50-50 pick to become the starter. I don't think that switching to Chuks will be that noticeable. Wis is not the regular starter. Once DD returns we have an upgrade from the injured player.

We are now in desperate need of depth, but don't expect the Steelers to be looking for starters.

My guess is that Foster could be playing on a vet minimum deal somewhere in the league if he wanted to.

He's out of work because he doesn't want to play on a cheap contract. After after sacrificing the body for so long, I don't blame him.

I don't think he'll come back for what we'll want to pay him (just like in the off season).
