Happy we won; team looked okay and will be better by week 3. O-line injuries are really going to have us up against it . Here’s hoping we can we can keep it all together

How dominating was that run defense?

        Barkley 15 atts; 6 yds = 0.4 yds/att

that sirs, is a beat down

and that's without a true NT....

Practice Squad - teams can grab a guy from another PS but he has to immediately go on the 53 roster so a player gets cut to make room. Teams can protect 4 players.
I think this year teams can designate some number of PS players as protected.

So week by week I think there will be restrictions on what players can be poached.

I think this is a new covid thing like expanded PS and expanded PS eligibility. I also think the made some changes to waivers moving back abs forth from the roster to the PS.

Maybe the coaches and front office know you don't need a so-called "true NT" in today's NFL and fans just default to that because they have repeatedly heard it

                Some positivities:

                1. Claypool; once Roethlisberger and he get more reps, it's gonna be real fun to watch these two. The only downside is an embarrassment of riches of Steeler pass catchers so not enough balls to go around. He was only targeted 2X I think.
                2. Ebron; that was a smooth catch and run across the middle; but see #1
                3. Snell; I won't hide my enthusiasm for the guy; runs like a Steeler RB; 19 for 113 yds, not a single TFL on the night! even though the blocking up front was shaky most of the night
                4. Canada; early on we saw the motion influence, nothing spectacular but I think they were trying to get a few looks on film for defenses to have to prepare for
                5. Dupree; what a night, what a terror (full disclosure, he was going against a rookie tackle)
                6. Edmunds; was it me or was this guy near the ball every time he was targeted? I only saw one play where he got caught cheating and was trailing the receiver by a couple of yds.
                7. Colquitt; unlike some, I think he had a good night; Giants returner is dangerous
                8. Announcers; ok, I will cut them a break. It's gotta suck trying to announce a game with fake crowd noise and no fans in the stands. that blond announcer....mmmm.

Some things that stood out for me with our passing offense:

                  1. Juju had a great game. And his fumble recovery showed exceptional awareness. It was as if he was anticipating the ball coming out. He was the only Steeler in that pile and won the battle. Things could have taken a bad turn if he hadn't recovered that.

                  2. Washington's TD was pure determination. He would not be denied the goal line. LOVED that effort.

                  3. Claypool's catch was spectacular. We've heard he's good at that type of catch. But to show it so early in the first game and make a very difficult catch look so effortless was quite impressive.

                  4. Ben: He was definitely rusty to start but found his arm as the game went on. He can still throw quite well. And he even "ran" for a first down! But he still held the ball far too much for my liking and I thought the line wasn't keeping him clean enough. GET RID OF IT and live to play another down. He's going to get himself killed again if he keeps getting hit.

I'd like to see us in hurry-up more. That worked for the Giants for a while. Ben has always excelled in it. I really wish we'd do more of it and really push Ben to get rid of the ball quickly.

I was hoping we'd go back to it in the second half. But I'm sure you'll see more of it as the season progresses.

This one made me spew my coffee.... Heyward on his INT in the EZ:

Sometimes you see that a lot in the red zone”. He added later, “in the red zone, I’ve got to be Revis and make those cornerback stops”, referring of course to Darrelle Revis
that right there is some funny stuff

it was such an easy catch I just knew he would drop it. It took forever to come down too.

Funny thing is I told myself out loud we would get a turnover 2 plays earlier.

This D is so good I’m actually surprised when teams score TD’s on us. I’m always expecting a strip sack or splash play and they usually come thru. It’s been a while since we’ve had a D like this.
