I was a big Cam fan but it really comes down to his health. It’s been a long time so I think he should be healthy now.

If Ben goes down I would definitely sign Cam if we look like we have a chance to make a run.

If we are 2-5 when Ben went down, I would just roll with Rudolph and get ready for the draft.

      This was my point.
The title appeared to be a suggestion, when in fact the author is actually not in favor of that suggestion.
I opened it perhaps to persuade the author against the idea, when he was against the idea already.
      Thus my question.

But I get it when he mentioned he was referencing an article that made the suggestion.
It answered my question fully and is all I wanted to know.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

      TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Imo it would be worth it because obviously you would...

        A) Have a good young team

        B) Have a " stopgap " QB because now you would ( I would hope ) Take a QB with your No.1 pick and..

        C) Say goodbye to Ben and that salary and

        D) Sign a few good FA's or extend some valuable players, or a combo of both to keep a great team going...

        E) Now you use your 1st round pick on " hopefully " your next Franchise QB, and you also don't have to rush him...
Ya but why give anything up, if Cam is sitting there and you need a QB just sign him to finish the year and then draft your next QB. If you are in that scenario chances are you wont get that great of a pick anyway so you may want to keep as much trade ammo as you can for the draft.

Well, Now you're talking semantics...For arguments sake let's say we're 7-1 when Bens goes down...Cam is still unsigned...

There is say idk Ryan Fitzmagic out there who filled in a couple of games already for his team, and looked great...

Do you bring in Cam, Who you know nothing about, Or Fitz who's played recently, And played well?

I just think it's a gamble with Cam..."IF" completely healthy and motivated he would probably be the best choice...But how would anybody know if he hasn't played? It's a helluva gamble on a 7-1 team... See what I'm saying

I expect the Steelers will work him out before they sign him and I am sure teams have access to info about whether or not he can play. There is no chance im giving up a draft pick to bring in fitzpatrick for half a season with a healthy Newto sitting there.

Fitz who plays well for 2 games and then starts throwing a ton of picks? No thanks.

AND let me be clear on this.....whatever does not “float my boat”.
I can respect that you admit it, and, it definitely comes with message board territory. I guess it depends on to what degree you pursue it. If you turn every thread into a flame war, that would be a bit much. As long as decent football discussion is ongoing, it's good.

But I still don't know why this post/subject is so "out of the blue."

                          “DISCOURSE”

Of course I admit to the accusation that I “cause discourse”.

It happens whenever I start a thread.
I have created many, many threads going back for over a decade.

In this case, you do know that it was you who “caused discourse” when creating this thread?

Discourse is nothing more than a discussion.

A concise, one word synonym for the expression, “out of the blue” is “unexpected”.

You disagree with the premise of the title of a thread that you created.
Therefore, your post “seemed” out of the blue (or unexpected) considering your thread title.

You explained you read an article which suggested Cam as a Steeler.

In my reply above I expressed that I understand now why you created the thread.
