    Andy Dalton Anyone?

Looks like the Bengals are letting Andy Dalton go. IMO, he's better than any QB on our roster not named Ben. Thoughts on possibly bringing him in??

Andy Dalton would be a solid backup for us but I can just as easily see him signing with the Patriots where he’d get the opportunity to start right away.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

I do think the team did a good job of passing on a 3rd, young, project of a QB and waiting until cuts are made to see which veteran they'd get as a FA. Whether it's Dalton or some other veteran, it's still a decent decision for this year. I see Mason being #3 and Duck likely being PS (if possible)

That's where I think he ends up.

I wouldn’t mind a vet backup for some quality insurance.

I commented last year the Steelers should make a play for Dalton after he was benched. I certainly don't know the finances of having someone of his caliber as the backup - but if NE doesn't pan out for him to be the starter, I'd be a big fan of this. Of all the FA QB's out there, I think Dalton is the best available. He's probably too good and too expensive to be the #2 however....

I was actually thinking the same. I live in Bungal-land and I know he's actually decent. At the end of the day, I think he ends up in NE, but it would be good to have that kind of a vet around.

Yep. We don't have the cap space to sign Dalton AND all the rooks and UDFAs AND the couple of UFAs we will need to pick up.

"Quality" insurance? I've never put the Red Rifle and "quality" in the same sentence.

If he signs super cheap I'd be in.

I was against J Winston, but if it really only cost the Saints $1.1M or whatever, it would have been a good pickup.

I think any NFL caliber QB would probably have a good shot at being our #2

As much as it pains me, yeah, Dalton would be a good signing. As the OC though I would keep it out of his hands late in the 4th qtr. ... maybe sub in Rudolph.

It really wouldn't matter: If Ben goes down, season is over - with or without the Red Rifle.

I don't think Tomlin will give up that easily.
They were talking on the radio the other day about this very subject. Wondering how the defense will react if the Steelers have another season with Roethlisberger out. It was pretty obvious to everyone that by the end of last season that defense was just completely spent trying to keep them in games. Opinion seemed to be they won't do the same this year if the QB is out.

Why would Dalton come play for us...

there are many places where he can land and start...

                            NE
                            JAGS
Chicago... I think he might be better than Tribisky and Foles
                            CAR

where is that red head, for ever losing playoff QB from?

If Andy wanted to be our next Charlie Batch i'd do it in a heartbeat!!
He's a good QB, smart and a good person also.
