Steelers logo - originally the logo for the American Iron & Steel Institute. Steelers asked to use it. Yellow = coal, red = iron ore, blue = steel scrap. Originally they had gold helmets and were not sure how the logo would look so they tested it on only the right side. 1962 they made the playoffs (best season they had ever had). To celebrate their first playoff game they wanted to do something special so they switched to black helmets. The rest they say is history!

I like the Steelers uni's but would be up for a new look as long as it was cool and payed some homage to the history. Everything I've seen as a suggestion has been pretty bleh.

My favorite's are (in no order): Seahawks, Chargers, Panthers, Jets

The ugliest, IMO: Browns, Packers, Bengals

Thanks, Ghost. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed the conversation turned to all off-topic bickering. And thanks for the history of the helmets; I knew some of it, but not as much as you offered. Thank you. And I still say the Steelers are a top 5 uni.

I'd only like a tweaking. When you are fortunate enough to win 6 rings with pretty much the same unis, you stick with it. The more a team makes major changes to their unis, the more lame their history in most cases. The Jags and Bucs change unis like they are underwear. I'd love to move back to block numbers.
