Steelers Playing in Hall of Fame Game vs Cowboys

Game is August 6. Not a surprise given the number of Steelers going in

Anyone ever been? I've been thinking about going with my son but it doesn't look easy to find a hotel in Canton, which is a tiny place to start with. Worth it to take in the festivities or training camp a better option?

I heard it is best to drive in early the morning of either the ceremony or game. Lodging seems to be a constant issue

Was hoping to do both. I've heard there is a lot more going on throughout the weekend. Game is on Thursday night and ceremony is Saturday night.

makes sense the Steelers would play in Canton with Cowher & Troy being inducted...

How come the players union doesn't protest this game?
An extra preseason game sure is dangerous.
Why not asked for the probowl game to be eliminated also.....you know, for player safety.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Because the Hall of Fame game is filled with back ups and roster fodder and the Pro Bowl has become glorified two hand touch

We went when Bettis got in. Did both the game and ceremony. Had to stay about a half hour outside of Canton. Game was as boring as you'd imagine a first preseason game would be. Was also before the Tom Benson Stadium was renovated. Sad footnote - was Suisham's last game as he was injured and never came back.

Ceremony was awesome. Even with just Bettis, it felt like it was 75-80% Steeler fans. With Troy and Cowher it should be the same or even crazier. So if you have to pick, definitely do the Ceremony over the game.

Training camp is always fun. But its every year. A Steeler getting in doesn't happen every year. And this year we'll have 2! Shell is getting in too but the ceremony for the centennial class will be in September.

                  Safety first.

Thanks rpm. Makes sense. Would much rather be in the crowd with both my son and I wearing our Troy jerseys than watching a battle between a future Wal-Mart greeter vs. my next insurance salesman. Tix for the ceremony already on sale. Hopefully Ohio will have lifted the ban on large gatherings by then.

Ironically, just checked the calendar and we were at the HOF on this day last year. Drove to Cleveland to watch the Raptors get blown out by the hapless Cavs the Monday night, then to Canton the next morning. We even talked about the possibility of coming back for Troy's induction, which was obviously going to be in his first year of eligibility.

I got our tickets when they (individual tickets not the crazy expensive packages) went on sale a few weeks back. I'd check asap to see what, if any, are left. We were going this year for Troy either way. Cowher getting in was an awesome bonus!
