Why wait. SKL 2020 Mock Draft 1.0

While I am a big proponent of drafting Jalen Hurts. I have a feeling Tomlin is comfortable with Mason as 1 of our 3 QB's in 2020. Ben's elbow check will be telling. I think regardless the Steelers need to end the Duck experiment. We cannot go into 2020 with the same 3 QB's. Anyhoo. The draft below is predicated on resigning Bud and Hargrave. All offense all day.

2/54-Creed Humphrey-C-Oklahoma- I have advocated we consider cutting MP or at least asking him to take a pay cut. Humphrey is a tough as nails plug and play C.

3/comp-Devin Duvernay-WR- Texas-I'd like to go RB here but the value will be at WR. Any other year Duvernay would be a lock 2nd rd pick. In this years stacked class we get a do everything WR who plays all over the field.

4/115-Harrison Bryant-TE-FAU- hopefully this kid will fall to us. I expect him to be a riser come draft season. Just watch his tape. Dude will be a stud.

4/118-Colby Parkinson-TE-Stanford- lets double down. If we get rid of Vance we will need 2 TE's. Parkinson will be the blocker to Bryant being the Recieving TE.

6/181-Trey Sermon-RB-Oklahoma- This kid is a low mileage stud. He was co starter last 2 seasons and part of a rotation of stud backs. Injury cut his 2020 short so he can be a steal this late.

7/213-TBD- I cant think this low right now

Got to get a MAC player in there even as a f/a. Caleb Huntley Ball St Cardinal can run it. Not much in the passing game but between the tackles he's got a shot to make a roster ps player . 5 10 226 had multiple td days. Free agent perhaps who would be worth a look.

it's gonna be a good week to view TEs at the Senior Bowl this year. DeGuara, Bryant, Trautman, Hopkins from Purdue and Pinkney from Vandy have all accepted invites. should be able to evaluate and maybe find a guy worth picking if McDonald is cut or Vannett isn't re-signed.

How high do you think they need to take a TE?

I haven’t seen one draft site yet put any of the top TE prospects in the 1st round, and the highest I’m seeing any is around 40-45. I’m not sure that any of the talent stands out—the difference between the “best” TE and number 10 is all in the eyes of the beholder—they all have weaknesses. So, I guess if you took a TE in the 2nd, that might be okay, but I’d probably target Trautmann in the 4th, as I think he’ll be a good Two-way TE in a couple years.

i figured C Humphrey was a 1st round pick. If he falls to us.. its a no brainer.

Maybe the kid we took last year develops?

The question is not how high, is if the OC gonna use him.

Agreed. Honestly should have just put Banner in there for blocking purposes and benched a TE. They were non existent all season.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                        TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

From QB to tight end, to lineman...it would be like reverse evolution.

I like where you are going on this mock draft...

It just kills me we only 6 picks and only 1 in the top 100!

I want all OL draft....at least 1 new starter G-OT (replace Foster/Feiler or maybe AV), and 2 -C/G/OT develop ( wait to start 2021) and one NT- replace Hargrave. Need to start where it all begins in the trenches.

For 3 years I want a TE, I think I will have to wait till next year... ( we will prob go FA filler at TE along with Venette)

Banner ran some drag routes in the Ravens game. Just an fyi. Odd for one so large but it happened.

I have not looked at many college players to date. One guy who right now I believe is underrated is Klavon Chiasson LB at LSU. Now he is likely better at olb but he is athletic enough to slide inside and still walk out and cover. Now can he stack n shed that is the question. He'll likely run well and though I've seen a third round grade on him that ranking likely won't last and he'll go top 50. He would be an excellent selection imho. He'll need a year in pro weight room but he can find the ball n is a solid tackler. Someone to keep an eye on.
