If they were asking him to"buy in" on losing I don't blame him for being a punk. He was just through this nonsense last year. He knows that the Dolphins are trying to tank to get Tua (big mistake in my book). Rosen sees the handwriting on the wall and he knows he is going to get screwed. Who would blame him for telling them to shove it

No. That’s not it. If Rosen has the chops you don’t think these teams would stick by him a use those other high picks to protect him?If they were asking him to"buy in" on losing I don't blame him for being a punk. He questions everything coaches ask of him. His college coach basically threw him under the bus and said it would be difficult for NFL coaches to work with him.
The real reason though is because he is a “free thinker” who is outspoken. NFL coaches and GM’s don’t like that. They want guys to buy in, shut up and play.Last edited by Oh wow; 10-23-2019, 04:54 PM.Comment

We all saw the attempted (and I'm saying that sarcastically) two-point conversion. Their tanking.I think teams tank by putting together teams with bad talent (or by sheltering high talent rookies in the minors in other sports). I think these decisions are ultimately made at the ownership level (often with input from GMs / HCs).
I don't think players tank because (i) I don't think you can go though the insanely competitive process required to be a pro-athlete and then turn it off and (ii) playing poorly hurts them financially by reducing (or eliminating) future contracts.
But I do think it sometimes looks like they're tanking because their talent is often below average and the environment of a tanking team must be terrible.Comment

If that's really the environment on these teams, then you have a bunch of individuals not playing as a team but only looking out for themselves.... a recipe for non-success in the NFL (as the Steelers well know).I think teams tank by putting together teams with bad talent (or by sheltering high talent rookies in the minors in other sports). For sure;
remember after game two of the season, the report that a number of Dolphins players contacted their agents asking to get out of Miami??Comment

Yep.
I think it's probably very difficult for a team to still work as a team when you know that the season is lost.
It will be interesting to see how our team deals with that over the rest of the season (because I assume we won't close out the season going 8 - 2).Comment

Was just thinking about that; if it happens can we settle the argument that Tomlin does nothing well? He should at least be in the convo for COTY.Yep.

Coaching matters. I haven’t seen any quit in our guys and don’t expect it even if we lose a few more games.Yep.

I could see if every loss was like the Pats loss but we had 3 close losses and each one had a costly turnover that ended up costing us the game.Comment

It will be Ben's aura on from the bench channeling the might of Cowher or something.
I don't think it will happen though unless we get significantly better on O and all the luck breaks our way. That we're 2-4 after winning the turnover battle in almost every game tells us that we're not a good team.Comment

I don’t think it means we aren’t a good team. Just not that good on offense early in the year.It will be Ben's aura on from the bench channeling the might of Cowher or something.

We tend to get better as the season goes on under Tomlin most years.
Our schedule also gets a bit lighter in the second half. I’m still holding out for 10-6 and think this bye will be used to prune our playbook.Comment

The process I'm currently trusting is something like: "Try to get the D as good as possible this year and get whatever development you can on O. Trust that Ben will come back as Ben and we'll be good on both sides of the ball next year."
I think we'll do better than our current 2-4 record suggests the rest of the way. But, I don't think we'll get the 8-2 we'll probably need to make the playoffs.
Without some pretty massive improvements, I can't imagine our O winning a game where we don't win the turnover battle. And I don't think our current turnover rate is sustainable.Comment

Well, it’s extremely hard to win if you don’t win the turnover battle. However, I think our D is good enough to keep us in games if we have turnovers early.
I also think our O will continue to improve as we get used to Mason being the QB. It hasn’t been that many games with Mason under center and the offense was tailored for Ben’s strengths, not Mason’s.
It really comes down to the offense not losing games. If we don’t turn the ball over late I think we will be in a position to win most of the games the rest of the way.Last edited by Oh wow; 10-24-2019, 02:47 PM.Comment

Minkah should line up at every single defensive position at least once during the game, just to rub it in to the Dolphins.Comment
