    Karl joseph

After the draft there was some chatter about the possibility of a trade with Oakland to get him. Since the Raiders drafted Johnathan Abram, signed Lemarcus Joiner and declined Joseph's fifth year option, it would appear to solidify our safety situation if a trade could be made. His salary is 2.1 M and probably could be had for a late 2nd day or early 3rd day choice, Thoughts??

Maybe we could get him for a 2011 AiR Advantage helmet and a warm pair of socks for AB

Depending how the competition goes among DB's, QB's, WR's, and OL in camp and preseason games, they might be interested in a swap involving guys like Artie Burns, Josh Dobbs, Eli Rogers or Jerald Hawkins.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Isn't he a liability in coverage? Granted he's a hard hitting guy but we are focused on guys who can cover back there.

We should trade whichever WR we think will be out of the league by year end for Joseph.

I don't see the raiders doing another trade with us any time soon!

The Raiders called. They will do Joseph for any of Switzer, Eli, Spencer, or Holton but only if they can throw AB in as well.

So as I understand it, the proposal is to trade for a DB who can't get on the field with the Raiders and replace one of our safeties and become a better defense. Lots of hoping and praying in that line of thinking

Karl Joseph was a first round pick before Jon Gruden arrived. So was Khalil Mack. So was Amari Cooper. He doesn't have their level of talent, but Gruden had no problem trading former first picks from before his time away.

Gruden wants his own players, not the prior regime's. So he signed Joyner to a big money deal to be his FS, and drafted Abram in the first round to be his SS, making Joseph potentially expendable (especially since they did not take advantage of the 5th year option on his rookie contract).

If we traded for Joseph, he wouldn't replace Sean Davis or Terrell Edmunds in our starting lineup. But he would likely be a better depth option for us than guys like Marcus Allen, Jordan Dangerfield, or Kameron Kelly.

so, since his option was declined, I presume the team receiving him cannot "accept" it. Meaning, you get him for this year and only this year... I wouldn't give up a pick for that, but, I'd give up a player that wasn't going to make the team. I'm just not sure if what the Steelers would be willing to give would be enough to get him.

The problem with Joseph is he is a strong safety. We have those coming out of our ears. Edmunds, I think, is going to be a very good SS. What we need is a ball hawking FS and that isn't Joseph.
