Raiders fined Antonio Brown $53,950 for missing two practices

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 4, 2019, 10:45 AM EDT

Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown has his helmet and is set to play on Monday night, but he’s not happy with everything that happened in training camp.

Specifically, Brown posted an Instagram story that showed a letter from Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock, informing him he was fined for missing practice.

“Dear Antonio: As you know, you did not participate in the Raiders’ walk through on August 22,” the letter begins. “Your absence from practice was unexcused. Accordingly, you are hereby fined $13,950 pursuant to Article 42, Section 1(a)(viii) of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Raiders’ Club Discipline Schedule.

“You were previously fined $40,000 for missing Raiders’ preseason training camp on August 18. Please be advised that should you continue to miss mandatory team activities, including practices and games, the Raiders reserve the right to impose additional remedies available under the Club’s Discipline Schedule, the CBA and your NFL Player Contract, including, but not limited to, additional fines and discipline for engaging in Conduct Detrimental to the Club.”

Brown added his own commentary to the image: “When your own team want to hate but there’s no stopping me now devil is a lie. Everyone got to pay this year so we clear.”

The $40,000 fine was assessed on August 18, the day that Mayock angrily told reporters that it was time for Brown to be all in or all out. Brown clearly didn’t get the message, given that he missed another practice four days later. Now the Raiders are crossing their fingers and hoping that when the season starts, things will go smoothly.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Raiders gave him 30 million guaranteed to show up to practice. He didn’t and now they have the unmitigated gall to fine him 50k.

        Oh the humanity.

But AB will show them who’s boss.

Monday night is still a long way off so I can see him not even playing at all in that game now.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

            Fake news.

I doubt he pays it by it makes the Raiders look tough on him.

the best part is that it ends with “...so we clear”

Kudos for having the doodads to fine him, tho
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

                    Time will tell.

Looks like we may get a demonstration of what would have happened if we applied the firm hand some here were calling for.

It's too early to know, but I think ABs behavior at Oak makes Tomlin look more like Phil Jackson managing egos (but I admit I was probably further toward that opinion than many on here in the first place).

It's quite clear now that Chestio took Tomlins monikor as a * Players Coach, and rode the Hell out of that Bitch...

Obviously I wasn't there for AB's tenure but imo there was a ton of stuff kept hush hush...We already now about the Helicopter ride, private Digs at Latrobe, Facebook Living etc.

But I think it took this organization a boatland of appeasing, looking the other way, and letting **** slide than we could all think..

They tolerated it because he was such an extreme talent but, When he went full bat **** crazy...The lightbulb finally went off and they decided " We haven't won Dick with this Clown... He's disrupting the whole lockeroom , culture ,and discipline we are trying to instill as to being a Steeler...

Finally the talent DIDN'T outweigh the means

                            Merril Hoge Rips Antonio Brown

'He's an embarrassment to the National Football League"

                            GREG FINLEY
                            SEPTEMBER 04, 2019

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Former Steelers running back Merril Hoge opened up with the PM Team about the Antonio Brown drama.

“You can’t have a rational conversation with an irrational person,” said Hoge.

Hoge said that he had a great first impression with Antonio Brown when they first met but people warned him about his ego but they say he works hard.

“There ain’t a bigger line of garbage than he works hard. Everybody in the NFL works hard. Anyone who is a good pro works hard. Because he works hard, it doesn’t take you away from being a bad pro. He’s a horrendous pro, he’s an embarrassment to the National Football League!”

Hoge doesn’t think Antonio Brown would have even lasted on the Patriots.

“He would have probably been cut or sitting at home suspended right now. He is not a pro, he is not a team player. I would never build my offense EVER around a receiver,” said Hoge.
