They sure do. Their higher priority was always to resign Bobby Wagner and with the money they gave Wilson, Clark was always going to be odd man out. With the DL talent in this draft they will get a very good replacements. Stars aligned for them this year.

Frank Clark gets five-year, $105.5 million deal with Chiefs

Posted by Josh Alper on April 23, 2019, 2:19 PM EDT

The Chiefs and Seahawks agreed to a trade on Tuesday that would send defensive end Frank Clark to Kansas City pending Clark’s agreement with the Chiefs on a new contract.

It did not take long for that deal to come together.

According to multiple reports, Clark has agreed to a five-year, $105.5 million deal with his new team. The deal has $63.5 million in guaranteed money.

Clark was set to make $17.128 million if he played out the season under the terms of the franchise tag that the Seahawks slapped on him in March.

This new deal trumps the $105 million in total value that DeMarcus Lawrence got from the Cowboys, although Lawrence got a slightly higher amount of guaranteed money at $65 million. It’s considerably more than the five-year, $85 million that Dee Ford got from the 49ers after the Chiefs traded him for a 2020 second-round pick earlier this year.

That pick may wind up as part of the compensation for Clark as the Chiefs will keep the better of their two second-rounders while sending the other one and this year’s first-round pick to Seattle. Both the price to acquire Clark and the price they’ll pay him suggests Kansas City believes Clark is step above Ford as a pass rusher.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Oh yeah.. I think Seahawks worked them. Seahawks can upgrade that O-line with a big time talent now.

Chiefs give up far more for Frank Clark than they got for Dee Ford

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 23, 2019, 2:25 PM EDT

The Chiefs must think the pass rusher they just acquired is a lot better than the one they traded away.

Kansas City gave up a 2019 first-round pick and a 2020 second-round pick to acquire Frank Clark from the Seahawks. Previously this offseason, the Chiefs traded Dee Ford to the 49ers for a 2020 second-round pick.

Essentially, the Chiefs traded Dee Ford and a first-round pick to get Frank Clark. To give up a first-round pick rather than just keeping Ford, the Chiefs must think Clark is a lot better than Ford, even though Clark and Ford both had 13 sacks last season.

The Chiefs have gone through a major defensive overhaul this offseason, and it’s easy to see why: Their offense was great last year, but their defense couldn’t stop Tom Brady and company in the playoffs, keeping Kansas City out of the Super Bowl.

But it’s easy to wonder whether the Chiefs aren’t giving up too much to make these changes. They’re going to pay Clark a reported $105 million over five years, and give up a first-round pick and a second-round pick for the privilege of doing that. Compare that to the way the Lions upgraded at defensive end, by paying Trey Flowers $90 million over five years, and not giving up any draft picks to do it.

If Clark is an All-Pro and the Chiefs have a Super Bowl-caliber defense, all of this will be worth it. But that’s a big “if.”

                They have tons of flexibility.

They don't have lots of picks (only 4 before adding this one) so they trade on of their 1st round picks into more OR they can use both of them and make major improvement to their OL to protect the investment in Wilson OR add one really good OL and one really good DL

                    Seattle now has two 1's, a 3, a 4, and a 5.

I think they trade back with one of their first rounders now to recoup a 2nd rounder and then some.

For example, if we were interested in obtaining another first round pick this year:
                    1.29 = 640 points.
                    2.52 + 3.66 = 640 points.

I doubt that we'd be the team trading up with them, just saying a trade like this could be possible.

Maybe the opposite; imagine if a team like the Cardinals or Giants want to come up for a player like Hakeem Butler ( for example) right there? Seahawks will probably trade back and pick up a couple more picks. They need all the picks they can garner.

The loss of a top defensive player in his prime for picks is a result of the Wilson contract. They need $ for Wagner too so for Russell he did well but overall this is the backlash.
