    3 players I want, 3 players I don't want WR edition

I have done this from time to time over the years and thought I would do this with a handful of positions that are of need for the Steelers. Players will be of various talent levels, but most will be rounds 1-3 talent. Lets look at WR

    Players I want

1-Marquise Brown-WR-Oklahoma- I have watched every game this kid has played. He is absolutely electric. Will be the fastest player on the field no matter who he plays. Can turn DB's upside down and inside out. YAC all day long. Solid hands but not a contested catch star. Lisfranc is a slight concern, but not one that should affect him once properly healed. Some will cite he is AB's cousin. Marquise is on the record as saying he would love to play in the Burgh and AB has no involvement into MB's professional career. NFL Comp=Tyreek Hill

2-Hakeem Butler-WR-Iowa St- Athletic freak, size speed combo star. Catches everything within a country mile with an impressive catch radius, outstanding ability to separate after catch and score. Red zone matchup nightmare. Despite catch radius has some drop issues. Route running is sloppy. Build up speed. NFL Comp=Plaxico Burress

3a-JJ Arcega-Whiteside-WR-Stanford Height, weight, speed combo. Basketball background helps him use his body to shield off defenders. Strong hands. Impressive red zone player. Smart and confident player. Struggles against top press corners. NFL Comp=Alshon Jeffrey

3b-Andy Isabella-WR-UMASS- quick as a hiccup, unbelievable route runner, great top end speed, track star Plus in the return game. Led FBS with 145 yards per game. Dynamic feet. Torched top competition (Georgia). Slight frame. Will let balls into body. NFL Comp= Az Zahir Hakim

Players I don't want- (admittedly these are very nit picky)

1- Kelvin Harmon-WR-NC St- possession receiver, can move the chains, average speed, strong hands and will compete for the ball. Struggles mightily to create separation. Not much in the YAC department- NFL Comp=Zay Jones

2-DK Metcalf-WR-Ole Miss- body beautiful, built like a greek god. Height Speed Size superhero. Can bust press coverage with ease. Sloppy routes. Injury history. High drop rate. Hasn't learned how to use all his physical gifts. NFL Comp=Josh Gordon

3-Terry McLaurin-WR-Ohio St.- solid route runner, Mr. Football Indiana, solid hands, good speed, disappears on film too often. Doesn't create his own space. Doesn't like to block. Will need to play special teams to make a roster. NFL Comp=Chad Williams

After someone brought him up earlier, I’ve come to really like Hakim Butler.

we have an official private visit set up with ND WR Miles Boykin.

and Tomlin met with Clemson WR Hunter Renfrow and his parents.

Boykin is an impressive looking specimen. If people stopped trying to look for another AB type WR and looked for a complimentary guy to a JuJu and Washington etc, there are so many potential options for that Martavious Bryant roll on this offence. Steelers may not need a 1st round talent to get great production from the position.

Boykin kinda fits, and for what? A 3rd round pick?
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

        Light up the darkness.

I would think he's worth a 3rd round pick and we do have two of them.

I don't want a first round WR, there is too much talent in WR that is going to drop in the 2-4th round.

I don't think that WR is a need now with an early pick, with Moncrief on board. We will probably need 2 more receivers to fill out the roster along with cutting Hunter and DHB.

I would rather go TE (who else is on roster other than McDonald, and scary thing is his injury history, you can trust) early to help support our WR and the running game.

Sameul, Isabella, Boykin or even the WV duo sounds good to me.

But if we did take one early, he better be better than JuJu!

I really like Brown and Butler, from what I've seen.

Tomlin and Colbert both interacted with Gary Jennings and David Sills from WVU at the senior bowl. Both were also present yesterday at WVU proday. Either of those guys are options.

Justin Hunter and Darrius Heyward-Bey are both currently unrestricted free agents.
They are not on the Steelers roster at the present time.

The WR's on our roster right now are:
                    Juju Smith-Schuster
                    Donte Moncrief
                    James Washington
                    Eli Rogers
                    Ryan Switzer
                    Trey Griffey
                    Tevin Jones
                    Diontae Spencer
                    Ka'Raun White
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                      Thanks again, SKL.

In my current mock, I was debating between Hakeem Butler and Kelvin Harmon as a second round WR prospect. I ultimately settled on Harmon because I saw him being a more consistently reliable target for Ben while Butler seemed to be more hit and miss, but thinking about it a little bit further, especially after reading your brief summations here, we already have a few guys on our roster who are capable of being possession receivers that can move the chains for us, but Butler offers something different. He's got more size, and we know that Ben always seems to be pining for a big receiver (although Harmon is no smurf at 6'2", Butler might just make Ben drool at 6'5"), we could use a big speedy guy to take the top off the defense and possibly be a different type of red zone weapon as well. If he could be a poor man's Plaxico, or even a clean Martavis type, it could be the missing link to the offense overall. I think I'm going to actually make that small adjustment to my current sig mock.

How bout Mecole Hardman? He looks to me like the type of guy that would compliment JuJu long term.

I think he could be electrifying in the slot for us and could return kicks.

Doesnt seem to have a ton of experience, but when you watch him he has a lot that most other WRs in this class don’t.

I love you "Plan B" draft but realistically think you need to project Noah Fant at #20. I can't see anyway Hockensen is sitting there.

Also love the Winovich and Long LB picks

I think there is a VERY strong chance one of those guys winds up a Steeler.
