    Big Ben

And his new contract...Wth is the holdup? I hope he's not asking for a monstrous contract...

I know it will be quite large...But they made this sound like it would be quick and easy...

I hope he isn the 3rd and last Killer to be a Dick about his contract...Starting to get worried

I'm a bit concerned as well. I'm hoping he's highly motivated to show AB and LB that he doesn't need them, and as a result willing to make this easy on the organization. One concern is how it will be structured. The Brees contract could have crazy future cap implications. I don't want us to be locked in to dead money once Ben is gone.
I'm not a cap guy so perhaps my concerns are not legitimate?

I guess this will stir the pot but here it goes anyway...

What if conventional wisdom is wrong and our Franchise QB really is the problem?

I am sure this will elicit a lot of this...

I am just having fun btw...I don't think Ben is squeaky clean in this but I think it's just his personality. There are a lot of great leaders/individuals that are this way. It is possible he just isn't George Bailey and wants to have a hundered friendships in his life.

This whole not being close to your teammates narrative is poppycock.

But there is still that remote possibility that he really could be Dr. Evil.

Now that I put out the counter to CW, I will explain why I think it's BS...

Wonder why people don't believe any news media today is things like this...they set out on a narrative "Let's destroy Ben R." and lo and behold they write an article siting a guy that was here for a cup of coffee and then attribute corroboration to a 2nd RB (Isaac Redman).

Well here is Redman's clarification on Twitter:
          Isaac Redman‏Verified account @ired33 1h1 hour ago (https://twitter.com/ired33/status/1106602200921460741)

I was called for an interview and was asked why do I think some players are saying negative things about Ben. My response was I’ve never had an issue with him some guys are closer than others. I think Ben is just careful with who he surrounds himself with.

Of course Ben is careful...have you seen what happened back in the day when he wasn't careful?

He is a husband/father with children in his late 30's. He also knows this day and age the media is looking for a big bad.

Many would be wise to follow his approach. Again, just because he ain't jokin and smokin with all of his teammates doesn't make him a good leader.

This is how I feel (like I said in previous posts...I was just stirring the pot).

He’s tired of doing the Raido show, he wants to do T. V. And wants immunity for anything he may say or show, on the Air. He also wants 45%of the Steelers stock.

I’m curious to see how much we throw at a QB his age.

Ben Roethlisberger's $5 million roster bonus kicks in Friday. No new deal imminent as of late morning but fluid situation. Team can pay out bonus over course of regular season. Steelers want to pick Roethlisberger, 37, into a long-term deal well into late 30s.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Ben looked good coming into the season last year with the obvious weight loss. All these QB's are feeling they can hang in there because of Brady.

I am not so sure, but it sounds as if Ben is looking to max out his $$$.

If his new contract was done before today, wouldn't we of saved $ in this years cap regarding that 5 M bonus?

I think you're right that there is a timeline wrt to his roster bonus.

I think today's Terrible Podcast was saying that it was tomorrow, but they didn't sound positive.

Seems like his extension should be soon. I thought it would have happened right after Pouncey.
