He might not get anything close to 5 million. He posted on Instagram with a joint paper in the background.

If Bell tears his ACL in training camp I would really feel bad for the guy.
Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

I deleted my facebook(my only social media account) around August. Has been amazing not having it. That being said, no one really gives a sh!t about what I posted hahahahasigpicComment

The issue wasn’t the amount per year as much as it was the guaranteed money. The contract the Steelers offered was heavily in the Steelers favor with minimal guaranteed money compared to a contract like Gurleys. That was the hang up. I mean if he were to get injured the Steelers can move on. What advantage was it for him to sign a contract with about the same amount of guaranteed money as the tag? Sorry, the Steelers made a show of it. But they didn’t want to throw a ton of guaranteed money at a guy with attitude and drug issues. And he didn’t want to work for a team who couldn’t give him security. Not sure why Bell is the bad guy in all of this.Trolls are people too.Comment

You answered your own question.
Keep it business, stay off social media rapping "imma need this" and "imma need that cause 26 is savage", don't get suspended for drug issues, don't tell media and teammates that you're going to play and then hold out the season...... and then Bell is not the "bad guy".Comment

Your referring to the second contract. The first one he was offered , that his agent and mother told him to take gave him well over 30 something mil guaranteed. That’s the one he said no to and stated he wanted to make 17 mil a year. The issue wasn’t the amount per year as much as it was the guaranteed money. And he is the bad guy because the market isn’t bearing 17 mil a year runningback. Even now, quietly, there are rumors the Rams are regrets g giving Gurly his contract now. Plus, why would we go and bid against our selves ( at that time) when we were already trying to make him the highest paid runningback in the league? Yeah, Bell is the bad guy because he is dillussional as AB in his demands.Comment

I get all that. I fully understand why the Steelers didn’t want him as one of the faces of the organization and why they had to throw out a contract they knew he wouldn’t take. But, the whole Bell is greedy argument is the point I’m referring to. I don’t see greed. I see a man wanting to get the most of his worth financially what he can and he wants his interests protected with guaranteed money. The Steelers didn’t want Bell. If they did, they would have kept him. It was all a dog and pony show and that was lead by the Steelers FO. IMO, that contract they threw at him was a joke but yet people call him greedy. Greed is relative. To people who make an average wage they are horrified when you pass on numbers that they will never see in 5 lifetimes. It villianizes the player. But, in his position I wouldn’t have taken that contract either. You answered your own question.

what makes you think the Rams FO is upset about securing Gurley who is a beast, who helped lead them to a Super Bowl? And he is the bad guy because the market isn’t bearing 17 mil a year runningback. I don't agree that the original contract they threw at him was a joke. Nor did his mom or his agent. This is a guy who's rarely finished a season healthy and was suspended for illegal drug use.I get all that. I'm fine with a player who wants to maximize his pay in a short career. But if maximizing your pay to care for your family is your intention, then don't get suspended for drugs! Don't rap your changing "demands" like an idiot. Don't expect to set the new bar for RB pay when you're acting like this. Bell is only being vilified because of the way he's acted.
The players agreed to the CBA. If all these players don't like playing under the franchise tag because of the risk of injury, then maybe the system needs to be changed. But at the same time, how is it OK for a team to pay guaranteed money and then be hamstrung with the salary cap if a player gets injured?Comment

By the way, Colbert just said that the Steelers are keeping Bell on their radar ... with all that has happened, if the market doesn't throw crazy money at him, we could still be in play for his services.Comment

I don't agree with the thinking that the Steelers didn't want him, or they would've kept him. They tried to keep him, but opted that if doing so meant strapping the team financially in the future, it wasn't worth it. It's not a matter of wanting to keep him.Comment
