It's to be near his daughter and granddaughter in Colorado. He's on record as saying it's the only place he would have gone. He turned down a head coaching interview in Miami. He's in his late 50's and had an opportunity to continue to do what he does best, but do it closer to his family. Can't blame him one iota for that.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Totally agree. It's not like he left for Cleveland or Jacksonville. He left to be close to family and to wake up and see the beautiful mountains every day. Can't fault a decision like that

I was making a joke. I know his grand daughter is there. But whatever the reason, doesn't matter. We are worse off. Bottom line.

If the trade market is huge for AB as is being reported and everyone acknowledges that AB is physically one of the best - if not THE best - receiver in the NFL, then I don't understand why someone wouldn't give up a 1st for him. If a team truly believes they can make AB behave, then he should be worth a 1st IMO.

AB to the Jets for the 3rd would suffice....

I think we could get a 1 around our own pick.

I don't see how anyone gives up something like a top 5 pick and keeps their job.

I think a 1st outside Top 20 is realistic. I think inside maybe be a swap but if a team needs a QB forget it. A high 2 might bring a player & a conditional next year. I know we want ransom but these may be something it will look like. Peterson would be nice but maybe cap hit too hard. I think he Will be moved highest bidder outside division.

It will only take one team to start that bidding war & bring us a crazy package. The more he opens his mouth though I think decreases the chance of that happening.

I also don't think the player they get impacts draft strategy unless they get a WR they feel is a #2. 3 picks first 2 rounds will be CB, ILB, WR with trade unless they move on from Dupree. I think they sign Dupree long term more reasonable then 5th yr, maybe $5 mil avg, and look to add 3rd or 4th.

I agree this is the likely scenario as they try to get cap space. I'm probably in the minority, but Dupree was better this season. Get him a better OLB coach than Porter and we may see a significant improvement

Perhaps, but not a gamble I'm willing to take for $9M+. As I mentioned earlier, I'm happy bringing him back on a 3 year deal at a price point that allows him to start, but does not tie the wrists if he is a backup or rotation player.

since the 49ers have been mentioned I believe their 2nd round pick (34th overall) is the best we could hope for.

Yup. Here are the potential scenarios for Dupree this offseason and my ranking of how preferable they'd be:

Me likey: Dupree is brought back on a reasonable deal after the team cuts him in early March to prevent a $9M cap hit.

Hakuna Matata: Dupree is cut in early March to prevent a $9M cap hit.and opts to sign with another team instead.

Me no likey: Dupree is not cut and just plays out 2019 on the 5th year option, counting $9M against our cap.
