Ben Roethlisberger suffered cracked ribs vs. Raiders

Mysteries abounded surrounding the status of Steelers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/profile?team=PIT) quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.nfl.com/player/benroethlisberger/2506109/profile), his ribs and a reportedly faulty X-ray machine (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000998770/article/ben-roethlisberger-ribs-expects-to-play-week-15) at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport cleared up the mystery Sunday on Good Morning Football Weekendas he confirmed the Pittsburgh signal-caller sustained cracked ribs during the Steelers ' 24-21 loss to the Raiders.
Despite the injury, Roethlisberger is expected to play for the Steelers (7-5-1) at home in a key matchup against the Patriots (9-4).
"[It's] nothing that should really limit him going forward," Rapoport said. "Wouldn't be surprised if he has more, let's say treatment like he did last week. He took a shot in the locker room and came back and then played. He should be fine going forward. But yes, unlike that X-ray machine, I can actually tell you, they were cracked."
Rapoport said he talked to a couple of people within the Steelers)organization as to whether they were surprised that they had a situation in which there were problems reading the X-ray machine. And, considering the setting, they were not all that surprised.
"If it's something crazy, it probably happens in Oakland," Rapoport said he was told.

Sheesh Ben - good news is ribs are not a moveable joint so it only comes down to level of pain.

He'll get an injection that will allow him to play on Sundays without any significant restriction, but it's trying to sleep during the week that gets difficult due to the pain waking you up on a regular basis.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

What about throwing motion? Don't know if others have noticed but it seems like he's been throwing sailers this season. Only way the Steelers have a chance today is if Roethlisberger's on his game.

Didn't seem to affect him when he came back in the game late last week after he cracked those ribs in the first half.

Ben Roethlisberger denies he played through cracked ribs

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missed much of the second half of the team’s Week 14 loss to the Raiders with injured ribs, but he returned to play against the Patriots in last Sunday’s 17-10 win.

Before that game got underway, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Roethlisberger was dealing with cracked ribs. During a Tuesday appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Roethlisberger denied that was the case.

“I have no idea where that came from,” Roethlisberger said, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “My wife texted me before the game and said, ‘Did you hear about this?’ I’m in the locker room. I don’t know where that guy gets his information from, so we’re not going to give him any credence on this show.”

Roethlisberger did not divulge his exact condition, but said “we’re all dealing with a lot of pain this time of the year” and gave credit to the medical staff for getting him ready to face New England last Sunday. Roethlisberger will have to deal with the Saints’ surging defense this weekend as he tries to keep the Steelers pointed toward the postseason.
