If he is, he won't just be outright cut. They'll likely just say something like he hurt himself on the final banana peel slip, put him on I.R., bring in a new kicker for the rest of this season, and have Boswell compete with some other kicker in training camp in Latrobe next summer.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Boswell will not be competing at Latrobe. He has a roster bonus of $2M which probably kicks in if he is on the roster March 1 (not sure the date but definitely prior to camp).

He is either gone after the season or he is the kicker in 2019. No way the team pays him $2M and then cuts him.

                Chadman says no.

Not even convinced he should be tbh. Yes, he’s been bad this season. But the whole team is in a funk. Do you just put it on him? Why stop there?

It isn't a question of just putting the blame on one person, and it being Boz. It comes down to the ability to replace somebody without there being a learning curve. Being able to utilize that player's full skillset without skipping a beat. Only a kicker or punter gives you that.

This is a tough decision, last year he easily "won" 4 games for us, this year he "lost" 3 games for us. I just don't get it, even if we replace him, are we going to have confidence in the new kicker? How many times during this season did we tell ourselves that he is over his "funk".

The credit and blame doesn't fall on just one play or player through a course of a game. Example, what if we Tomlin did call a time-out, and we had another 30 seconds on the clock. After Juju's hook and lateral play, how much time was still on the clock? 20sec? That is enough for 2 plays to win the game with a TD no tie the score to go into OT.

What if we stopped them on that 4 and 4-6 play to take the lead...

Kai Forbath had a strong kicking workout with the Steelers and the team is keeping him on hold while they figure out Chris Boswell's situation. Thursday's practice could be big for Boswell.

Last year I could leave the room after a TD and know that there is 7 on the board when I get back. This year you have to start holding your breath as soon as the ball crosses the goal line, and only let it out after the extra point has been kicked.

I'm curious how simulate game situation pressure in practice? That's when the rubber meets the road. Fifty yarder into the open end of the stadium, points before the half, 4th quarter FGs, game winning FGs are all a little different live than in practice.
