    Do You Watch Other Teams?

I was thinking about this when the Red Sox won the world series. I thought who cares? Does anyone other than Boston fans, LA fans, and my dad watch the world series.

Then I was watching the NE game for a bit last night. And once again, I started thinking who cares?

Any sport other than a Pittsburgh sport has to be uber compelling to get me to watch nowadays. Or I lose interest.

Heck, even the Alabama / LSU game got super boring. That's the #1 and #3 teams in college football. Should be a good game, but it wasn't.

At one point I used to like every sport. I could watch Tennis, Soccer, Golf, Bowling, you name it when I was a kid and young adult. Now I see sports and I feel meh unless they're my team.

Then I start thinking does anyone even care about my team. Then I go off into the why should I care if no one else does. But I quickly bounce back to who cares what anyone else thinks?

But I feel there's a time coming where I might care less. And I'm not sure where the 'Meh" comes from?

I used to watch tons of NFL football. Couldn't get enough. But the product has totally changed from when I was growing up. And it's not that fun. Too many penalties that kill the flow of the game. And penalties that are so arbitrary that can decide a game (ex: last night the Packers got called for a 15 yard roughing the kicker when it should have been a 5 yarder and still 4th down). I don't love non-stop O. I liked when the D could take over a game.

College football - still try to watch as many games as i can. I love it. Any random team will do. The big games are fantastic. 1 loss and a season may be over. The drama is tough to beat.

Hockey - I'll watch as many Pens games as are on TV but don't watch other teams.

I think as you grow older and have wives, kids, pets, a house, etc there just doesn't seem to be the urgency to keep up with sports as there was when life didn't hold so many responsibilities. I miss a bunch of Steelers games early each year as I am an assistant baseball coach for my 7 year old in fall ball. That's easily more important. Life happens.

I am a football fan. I love the game and realize that it is a relatively short season with a limited number of games. Therefore, I try to enjoy the season as much as I can because it goes by fast. Soon, it will be the middle of February and I will be bored on Sundays with no games to enjoy. I usually find myself rooting for one team or the other when I watch.

But I do agree that the over-officiating and the endless number of selectively applied rules and regulations that applies to football has taken some enjoyment out of the game..

As soon as I bought a house and had more going on in my life I abandoned fantasy football. Getting into the draft went out the window as well. Soon after that I stopped seeking out games to watch. I also stopped visiting the Planet as much...

I'll still put another team's game on here and there, but it is a background kind of thing and certainly not something that holds my attention like it used to.

I've got three young kids at home. I barely have time to watch Steelers games (when they're on over the air in Upstate NY)

Last night was a fun game to watch between the pats and packers. I don’t often have time to watch other games but enjoy a good matchup. Say what you want about the pats, but they are a disciplined low penalty team. You can beat them, but not if you make mistakes.

I watch the Steelers, Pens, European soccer and division I lacrosse, not much of anything else sportswise. I like soccer, and hockey because the game is played the way it was designed to be played and the television people can squeeze their commercials in but the leagues aren't stopping play for TV timeouts. I love lacrosse because both of kids played and were good at the game, same with soccer.

I'm old school football, I find nothing wrong with a game that ends up 13-10 and getting yards and points is a true accomplishment, not the pinball games we see now, it is what it is, the NFL knows their demographic and I'm not part of it so they aren't changing back to a more defensive, run oriented game and that's ok, I can decide to watch or not. The penalties, the subjectivity and the defense not being allowed to hit players, particularly quarterbacks, makes it a lot less fun for me to watch.

I actually love going and watching the local high school soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams play and will do that over watching an NFL game that doesn't involve the Steelers.

I’m a Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Ohio State (alumni) fan. I love watching other games but they don’t keep me glued to my seat. Also I’m in the middle of selling/building a house so my free time is low and my stress level is high at the moment. I’ll always find time for the Steelers though.

I like the NFL in general and the Steelers specifically. They are the only team I follow. Other than that, I've been a Boxing junkie since I was small so I watch that a lot. While I'm cool with sports in general (I will pull for the Lakers, Red Wings, Tigers, Wolverines), I've decided that I'm not going to be chained to it all.

Other than the Steelers, I don't sit down and watch NFL games anymore.
