    Disturbing Words from Roethlisberger

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but when your QB makes these kinds of statements one quarter of the way into the season, there is real trouble lurking somewhere:

"I don't think I'm on the same page with anybody right now," Roethlisberger said after the game, per ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler (https://twitter.com/JFowlerESPN/status/1046613054308450304). "I'm not playing well enough. I need to play better. Today was just a bad day at the office. ... I promise I'll be back to play better."
How is it possible a ten year veteran, HOF QB is not in sync with the offense? Has Fichtner changed things so much that he has confused even his starting QB?
And if it is truly the case that he is not on the same page with anyone, how is Roethlisberger allowed to continue taking practice time off?

Looks like standard stuff a team-oriented QB says when they aren't playing well. I'm not finding this any more disturbing than the actual situation surrounding it. I kind of like the humility - Roethlisberger's pretty good at that.

      The standard is the standard.

Ben will unleash hell in October.
Tomlin: Let's unleash hell and "mop the floor" with the competition.

Regardless Ben should be made to practice, he currently sucks right now as does the rest of this Steelers unit.

Correction: He's a 15 -year veteran, and he's been playing this (fake) accountability crap all his career, which really means nothing in the scheme of things because he comes right back and stink it up again then, pout a little bit in front of the cameras, and say "it was all on me!" Why does he do this? Because he knows all of his "yinzer" fans will eat it up and say what a great guy, and how humble he is....

Heard on Sirius radio that Ben has something like a career .500 record in September
His winning % in December is off the charts

He's proven he's not a great guy, many times. I do, however, believe he is a team player, and probably means it when he says "it's all on me." Or at least he means it in that he doesn't want to single anyone out, or have younger players feel like they are to blame.

And you haven't been watching him for 15 years, if you think he "stinks it up again." His football career speaks for itself, and he will be HOF, no matter how bad he's been here and there.

Apparently - YOU are the one who hasn't been watching... I'm used to hearing this song and dance from Ben, then watch (bad) Ben keep showing up, losing games we could have won if he could have just played a little better or not thrown multiple interceptions! Yep, I have seen it all! Sorry to hurt your feelings... The movie is over and the reality ain't pretty

He was asked a question by a reporter about him not being on the same page with Antonio Brown right now.

He responded by saying, "I don't think I'm on the same page with anybody right now."

Seems like the best answer he could have given there.

He took the blame on his own shoulders rather than taking the bait and throwing more gasoline on a potential AB fire.

I don't see that as disturbing. He's speaking the truth. He's not playing well enough and needs to play better. Anyone that watched Ben not being able to hit the broad side of a barn on 3rd downs in this game could clearly see that.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Mike Tomlin: Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown will “smooth it out”

Posted by Josh Alper on October 3, 2018, 7:01 AM EDT

The frustrations of wide receiver Antonio Brown were one of the storylines from a drama-filled opening month for the Steelers and he capped the first quarter of the season with five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Ravens.

Just one of those catches came after halftime of a game that was tied 14-14 at the break and the Ravens would score the only 12 points of the second half on their way to the win. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took the blame for the offensive flameout and said after the game that he’s not on the “same page” with anyone right now.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he remains confident that “the cream rises” over the course of a long season and that will wind up applying to Brown as well.

“We missed some opportunities in that game no doubt, particularly on possession downs,” Tomlin said, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I’ve seen that tandem a lot of the years. They’ll smooth it out. They’ll find their rhythm.”

Brown hasn’t lacked opportunities as he’s seen the second-most targets in the league, but he hasn’t done much with them. He’s caught 29 of the 52 balls thrown his way for 272 yards, which works out to under 10 yards a catch and leaves Brown on pace for a career-low in that category.
