I guess what i was saying is, he was ok as Shazier's sidekick. He is now in a position where he just cannot win. I don't blame him, I blame the FO. Although damned if I can see how they could have fixed it. Shazier's injury may go down as one of the most consequential in Steelers history.

Ehh, I'm tired of blaming this crap show on Shazier. The D wasn't all that great when he was here. There are a lot more problems than just the lack of Shazier. And last night, most of it was on the other side of the ball. Only 50 yards of total offense in the 2nd half and zero points scored. A Steelers 25 min to Rats 35 min lopsided total time of possession. That's a recipe for losing football.

I too am tired of the Shazier excuse. Stop using one man to blame for the inadequacies of 10 other men.

Vince williams was a perfect compliment to shazier.

Hes a downhill thumper though, its an outdated position in the NFL. Guys like VW can find a niche in the league for sure, but they need a sideline to sideline guy that can cover and play in traffic next to them.

I compared vince to jasper brinkley when he was coming out, a fine player that can be a starter and certainly a backup in the league but he does have physical limitations and is best suited as an early down run stopper

                    This is true.

But, that's the point of the bend but don't break D.

Since our D isn't good, I think we want to try to extend opposing drives so that they have opportunities to make mistakes. Giving up yards in huge chunks is a bad strategy (obviously).

The D did not keep it winnable. The Ravens kept it winnable it should have been 28-3 after the first quarter.

The only reason the D looked competent in the 2nd half is misfires by Flacco or dropped passes.

Our D did close to nothing. The final score is deceiving.

Yea he makes tackles 5yards down the field and to me that's useless. He had no business in the game in obvious passing downs, something I blame Tomlin for. When I continued to see this kinda thing, that's when you know a good coach have outlived their stay.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say he's more than just a guy. A decent starter, especially when playing beside an elite playmaker like Shazier.

You can be tired of it, but you're being tired doesn't change the fact that a defense that was average (at best) with it's only elite player is going to be bad if they lose that player.

Elite players drive outcomes, losing one is a big deal. It's not like the other guys can just try harder. They were already trying as hard as they could.

I don't know how anyone could have expected our D to be anything but bad this year (except through wild optimism).

Even if they don't think Thomas is ready for prime time, at least give Bostic the dot and let Williams come off the field.
