The defense was bad to start the season last year, worked it's way to average until shazier went down and went back to awful. Picked up this year right where they left off. Bostic has been a good pickup - but really nothing else to see there.

I never thought we'd reach the point where tomlin/butler has so little confidence in the secondary we essentially don't blitz for an entire game.

our 'best in the league offense' again failed to show up.

47 yards in the second half??? yeeesh.

lot of season left of course - but what has this team shown me to give me hope? can i expect the defense to pull it all together and climb all the way to average? can the offense stop misfiring and reach that goal of 30/game?

I dunno.

but performances like this will reward us with a top 10 draft pick next year.

Like I said in a different post... It's a bad product.

It's hard to watch. It's not even enjoyable to watch and the fans in the stadium must have felt the same way because they were booing halfway thru the FIRST QUARTER.

It's time for the Rooney's to wake the **** up and do something with the staff.

There is no way in hell I would spend the money required to travel to Pittsburgh to watch this junk.

i don't agree with this. I think there has been an effort to fix the defense - they have just missed on too many picks. It's been clear for several years they were focusing on defense with their top selections and they have put together a young group. But for some reason or another - none of those picks have grown into an impact player other than shazier.

Yea, I understand what you are saying. True. We've been picking guys here of late that haven't panned out. But, they failed miserably to replace Shazier, and even though Bostic is adequate, he just isn't near close to Shazier- but many aren't. But the FO didn't even try to move up in the draft to t get 50's replacement. So, it's bad scouting, bad drafting, etc. And they hire and fire the staff too...Anyway.... there is a lot of blame, but I put 99% of it on the FO.

Very sadly, I must agree with this. I was planning to take my Daughter to see the game against the Falcons coming up, since she has a long weekend with Monday off. But I can't bring myself to drop nearly a grand to watch this mess. For an entire half of football, there was absolutely NOTHING to cheer for. They played Renegade in the 3rd quarter and stirred the fans up. And then the team proceeded to let all the air out of the stadium.

Right now, it's just a pitiful excuse for a team.

To be honest with you, I could even overlook this miserable excuse of a defense if the offense could just consistently perform up to it's capability and talent.
