How much blame gets put on the front offense for a horrible few years of defensive drafting? Maybe no coach ever born could do better than what Butler is doing with the talent deficit he has there ...

SAS,
Don't get me wrong I think Colbert/Tomlin and their stubbornness to not move up to get playmakers in the secondary are largely to blame for this fiasco in the secondary. But, they aren't going to move either one of those guys.
He will be the sacrificial lamb in the end regardless.

I hear you brothervad. Yup, we all know how that is going to end for Mr Butler, deserved or not.
Wait, you guys really think Butler would be unfairly fired if we let him go?
While we haven’t drafted stats we damn sure have drafted some solid players and we should be better than we are at this point on D.
I think Butler is just DL light and we need new eyes on this defense.
So I said fair or unfair. My point is there have been plenty of opportunities to get talent here. I am speaking realistic here. They will not fire Colbert or Tomlin. It's nonstarter.
But Butler has not been able to take what he has and put together a sustainable defense. He will pay for it. But to say that the Colbert/Tomlin have drafted serviceable talent in the secondary...look back and see how many of those that have moved on from the prior year's picks and see how many of them are starting/playing a significant role on other teams.
let me ask you something...Cam Heyward said after the game "We didn't kick enough butt." I mentioned this in the draft...I don't see swagger, I don't see intimdation, I don't see statements. I think Mahomes is the real deal, but often they say the NFL windows are so small for young QB's. From what I saw today, the windows were huge for KC QB.
Something is missing from the D...and it's been missing for a while now.
brothervad
I guess I should actually ask you a question...
Am I missing something or is there something there to my observation about our D not having that swagger that we used to see no too long ago?

I agree brother vad, no Swag lately …
Since Tuitt hurt his arm last year, that's what I'd say as long as I didn't have money on having to be right.
