And the idea that winning super bowls is necessary for owners to make more money doesn't seem to mesh with reality. The Redskins are the number 3 most profitable team in the NFL. The Steelers, with the most rings of any team in the league are not in the top 10.

seating capacity usually dictates who makes the most money.

Steelers are still a small market team. 65K stadium

Redskins and Cowboys seat 90k to 100K each.

That's another 30K fans X 8 home games... 240K more fans, parking concession etc.

You don't need a SB to make big money as a franchise.

A SB is just a bunch of expense added: more salary, a week of hotel rooms for the entire franchise, feeding them, etc.

With the revenue sharing of NFL merchandise and the TV contract, I would bet that teams sitting at home make as much money off the Super Bowl...
Your right, it doesn't do much in the grand scheme of things, The Eagles won the Superbowl but the Networks are going air Cowboys games as much as possible.

A team that goes to the super bowl or goes and wins the super bowl enhances it’s brand which gives optimal attraction for future investors. As well as it shows management is compitant and knows what it’s doing. Those are the values of a team going to the super bowl.

I seriously doubt an investor would pass up the chance to make more money with the Cowboys to invest in the Eagles.

Super Bowls definitely enhance's a teams brand but investors like to make money. Any franchise with shares that gives a decent return will be jumped on by an investor.

Winning a SB enhances the team’s brand...so, they sell more jerseys...which is part of the revenue sharing agreement and makes those who say at home just as much money as the SB winner...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

ahh, had no idea jersey sales were shared across the league. Wow.

Yep! Just like the TV contract...Reebok pays the NFL a huge licensing fee to be able to produce jerseys...that revenue is all shared...

Conner had the highest selling jersey last year. Does he get a fraction of that? I hope so

Nope. Not to my knowledge. I don’t think the fee is based upon unit sales numbers. Reebok is gambling on guys like Conner and Villanueva selling a lot of jerseys so they can actually make money. That’s also why NFL coaches have to wear team apparel on the sideline...the whole game, between jerseys, coaches clothes, etc., is basically a 3 hour Reebok commercial.

That's why you never hear the small market guys complaining about never getting prime time games. It benefits the smaller markets more when a team like the Cowboys get the prime time games.

I thought Nike is the official uniform manufacturer now?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

It started more than a few months ago. It started before last season when they replaced Reebok. I'm assuming the Reebok contract ended and Nike's won the new contract.
