Kendricks' cap hit is currently $7.6M this year and $8.6M next year. If a player gets traded, I think the trading team might be responsible for the remainder of his signing bonus against their cap, with the acquiring team responsible only for the base salary (not 100% sure about that, though). Even if that were the case, Kendricks still has base salaries of $5.85M in 2018 and $6.85M in 2019. Oh, plus Jon Bostic and Vince Williams each had more tackles than Mychal Kendricks last year.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

You are correct in that the team who acquired the player isn’t responsible for the signing bonus...we weren’t responsible for the bonuses of JJ Wilcox or Vance McDonald...
At any rate, regardless of whether or not Bostic had a few more tackles, I think Kendrick would be a good addition....better, IMO, then Bowman...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

If you remember back, Haden came with quite a few question marks. His play had declined the last couple of seasons and he was "not as fast" as he used to be. Most reasonably priced vets come with the potential upside and a ton of question marks due to age and injury history. If Bostic stays healthy, and plays two-down LB like he did before injury last season it is a good signing. If he gets hurt then it was a huge FO blunder.Comment

For what it's worth, Bostic was a 3 down LB last season in Indy. It could be that Vince is the one who comes off the field in sub packages and Bostic stays.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

You could have a pass-rushing front four of Watt, Tuitt, Heyward, and Dupree (or Watt, Tuitt, Hargrave, and Heyward).
Behind them, you could have 4 safeties and 3 CB (keep Morgan Burnett and Marcus Allen near the line of scrimmage to protect against a possible run and Sean Davis and Terrell Edmunds deep, with Haden and Burns outside and Hilton in the slot).
Or you could opt for 3 safeties and 4 corners instead (keep Morgan Burnett and Terrell Edmunds near the line of scrimmage to protect against a possible run with Sean Davis in the deep middle, Haden and Burns outside, and Hilton and Sutton manning the slot on either side of the formation).Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

There are a number of things that have occurred that should make us better overall as a defensive unit (young DB's getting another year under their belt, quality FA acquisitions in positions of need, doubling up in the draft on quality Safeties, etc.) With that being said, even with the signing of Bostic, ILB depth is a huge question mark right now. Signing Bowman would make our defense better on day 1. As poor as our ILB corp is, Bowman could have the same impact for our ILB's that Joe Haden did for our secondary last year.Comment

I thought this was the default assumption. Vince isn't a 3 down linebacker. Bostic has been (while healthy). If he goes down, I think they will groom Edmunds for that role.Comment
-
I believe that Marcus Allen could end up being de facto ILB depth...when ILB depth was a problem before, the Steelers played Troy Polamalu in that role...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment
