You do realize that the Steelers recorded a franchise record 56 sacks this past season, the most in the NFL in 2018 and the most by any NFL defense since back in 2013.

And the second most sacks on the team came from your favorite "just a guy" Vince Williams, with 8 sacks.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I would have been fine with either of those guys as well.

Of the safeties that were out there, nobody was really exciting. Reid and Bates looked like they could become solid players, but neither seemed to have star potential. Edmunds has a bit more risk, perhaps a lower floor, but based on his athleticism also has a higher ceiling. Of the guys available at 28, he probably has the most potential to be a difference maker.

How do you know that Edmunds was going to be there in the second?

Yes Ruth, I do understand that.

But do you also understand that we had the easiest schedule in the NFL based on the quality of QB's we faced? What we did on defense was a mirage; and it was exposed when we played Jacksonville. Don't get me wrong; I love Watt and I think he's a fine linebacker who hit the rookie wall at the end of the season. I think he'll be good to great. But Vince Williams is just a guy but had his best year.

The pass defense was top notch too if you look at the year end numbers; how did that bear out in the playoffs when Bortles scored 17 points in the 4th quarter, looking like Tom Brady doing it. How great was that pass defense then?

Last year's defensive numbers have a lot of people mislead. Go look at the bum QB's we faced; The only legit QB's we faced were Brady and Stafford. Go look at what they did to us. Then we played a legit playoff team and that Quarterback (Bortles) who a lot of people consider a bum, let us have it at the most crucial quarter of the game.

Now, go look at the quality of QB's we face this coming season. We need pressure on the opposing QB. We will not go 13-3 this coming season. Very apparent by the quality of QB's we face. Not unless we can get some pressure and stop the run.

Because guess what? After what the Jags did to us twice, every team we face is going to attack us in our base defense by running at us because our base has been dubbed weak against the run. Jags pounded us until we completely cracked..in both games. So guess what Carlos Hyde and Chubbs are going to try and do week # 1? Yeah.

And what has generally changed from the pounding we took in the last Jags game? Tuitt will be back; that's a plus but generally there's nothing significantly enough that's changed that will make teams think different about how to attack us. Where are those tough guys in our front 7 that are going to want to bring the hit and the pain? I don't see them.

After a grade C draft, all we can do now is hope for the best. Hope for Bostic to be that much of a difference maker and hope Burnett can bring some leadership and cohesiveness to the back end. Although, you've got to believe he's better then Mitchell. LMFAO!!!

Bostic won't be abused in the run game like Spence was...

It is also very easy to "run on a team until they crack" when that team turns the ball over and gives up defensive TDs...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Edmunds himself said at the draft that he and his agent felt he was going to get picked in round 2 or 3. He was only there on the first day to support his brother who everyone knew was a first round pick. And all the experts said he was a second round pick.

But let's go with what you are intimating; let's say we take Landry and Edmunds is taken before our pick in the second round, then we still had Justin Reid or Jerome Baker and if we would have taken either one of those guys, none of us would have thought it was a bad pick.

Again, I get why they took Edmunds and once you see how they want to use him, along with his athleticism, it was a good pick but it was just a matter of where they picked him. I like him long term.

IMO, what we need is a disruptive player on the inside who can help on run support and cover a TE when asked. The stuff we lost when Shazier went down. We’ll find out soon enough if Edmunds is that player.

Reid, Harrison, Bates III- none of them have the capability to play the $LB role like Edmunds can. Which is the only reason we drafted him in the first, to play $LB. Not to play safety.

Looking at the both college stats and combine measurables, Edmunds really is just as comparable with either James or Fitzpatrick as well

We hope; obviously Tomlin/Colbert feel that way but I"m not going to go that far. Not yet. Gotta see it.
