He got less money to play for a non-contender. How did he get what he was looking for?

He wanted more guaranteed money, which is what he got.

Speaking of Bell, could it be that defenses have learned to deal with his running style? It used to be all the rage with his 'patience' waiting for blocking to set up but maybe this doesn't work anymore? I don't see any successful RBs doing this right now.

That he did nothing. He did something it just wasn’t anywhere near what he used to do. Now some will suggest it’s because he lost his burst and doesn’t have it anymore. However, it’s not like the Jets are super talented and they have a HC who has put him in the best situation to succeed.

Just seems odd that they have a struggling young QB and they refuse to make Bell a feature in the passing game.

Will be interesting to see if other teams come calling and how he responds.

Did you see why just happened to Dak who was on a franchise tag? Was he crying because of injury or because he knew his chances of getting a max deal just went out the window?

People seem to forget his very lame comments about Ben, the team, etc. Cancer like that should not be reintroduced, IMO.

No way Tomlin brings him in. (Why do I feel like I just guaranteed that he would be back???)

Well, he turned down a five-year, $175 million contract with $100M GUARANTEED. He might have had to eat Ramen every now and then but I think he could've made ends meet on that deal.

I think if Bell had the benefit of hindsight, he would have taken the Steelers' offer. But he wanted to try free agency to see if he could reset the market for a dual-threat RB. He didn't. But he got some additional guaranteed money.

Sometimes the gamble pays off (Flacco). Sometimes it doesn't (Dak). But he had deal in front of him that dwarfs the net worth in multiple lifetimes of most anyone on the planet and he turned it town.

There's a reason Bell's Steelers teammates didn't stand behind him when he was sitting out.

Then again, we reportedly looked into trading for him last season, so who knows? I wouldn't bring him back. Might be different if we were 0-4 and our offense was really struggling.

He got MORE guaranteed money. We could have cut him just like the Jets did and he'd have less change in his pocket.

He knew that so he has no reason to regret his choice.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Except if winning and legacy matter to him.

He chose to be a Jet. Nuff said.

His priorities are pretty easy to see. Legacy and winning ain't it.

As fans, we want to believe (on some level) that these guys care as much about the team as we do. Some do. Most don't.

Did Flacco’s deal really work out for him as far as winning and individual success? He’s a Jet now.

Dak should’ve taken the deal. He wanted a 4 year deal for some reason and honestly, even though he puts up stats he isn’t really a top 5 QB.

While some people think winning games is the end goal. I think winning the contract:biz deal is more important for most players.

I don’t think players are that sad when they don’t win a SB if they sign a nice deal.

Being underutilized or not getting the football. Now that definitely frustrates a skill position player.

Cracks me up when people think players shouldn’t be smiling and laughing with rivals after the game ends. It’s a job. Not war.

Players want to win but winning in life is the best win of all.
