Might explain why the Texans got him for $7M. If you have to invest the $$$ to have "an above average backup," it might be hard to justify paying Mathieu elite-player money.

I really never thought about bringing him on board, due to his age and him probably wanting to get paid. But think you are right, I think he has to be shooting up the Steelers FA big board. Another player that we should be looking at, is Suh. He still can play, demanding double teams. He is that run stuffer that Rooney wants, would keep our ILB cleaner and faster. But at what price and how big of a jerk is he?
