Hmmmm...maybe. I mean of course we can find good linebackers beyond the first round. It's done every year by teams. But Bryant is only going to be here this final year; we are not giving him a big money contract next year. So, he's an expiring asset and I don't like our assets to just walk and we get nothing for them. I'd be happy using him to move us up so we can maximize our first round pick.

Juju has proven that he can be the guy opposite AB. So no worries for me.

I would consider that, and I think the Bryant is way more likely to be traded than Bell (but I don't think either move happens). But doing this would seriously hurt out WR depth.

We'd go from having a very strong top 3: Brown / JJSS / Bryant
      To 2 guys and H-B: Brown / JJSS / Heyward-Bey

Heyward-Bey can probably still run a fly, but he's 31 and will probably regress quickly now (especially his primary skill is speed).

I'd feel better about a move like that if Rogers wasn't hurt (and unsigned). Even if we resigned Hunter at least we'd have someone playable there (although he generally couldn't crack the line up last year). I do think that a move like that would mean that we'd have to spend a low pick on WR. He's probably do at least OK because great QBs make WRs better.

But Northern, what's the use of not trading Bryant and he walks and we get a low round draft pick as compensation ; if were lucky?

I think Hunter gets resigned. Ain't no one beating down his door to sign him.

We are trying to win now. Our chances are much better with AB, Juju, and Bryant as our top 3 wideouts then with AB, Juju, and DHB as our top 3 wideouts.

Plus, next year, if he signs a relatively minor deal in free agency that would only net us a low round draft pick as compensation, then we could potentially re-sign him ourselves if the money is that reasonable. If he signs a major deal that we can't match, then we don't get a low round comp pick...we most likely would get a 3rd round pick as compensation (worst case scenario 4th round).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I agree that asset management is important.

But, I think that we have to look at the present and the future.

I think the benefit of keeping Bryant and letting him walk at the end of the year (I assume low or no comp pick) is having one of the best WR groups in the league for one of Ben's last few years.

I don't know if that's better than improving our ILB group by having our pick of players at an earlier draft pick. But, I would much rather trade Bryant (who was inconsistent last year) over a premium pick (rd 1 or 2 this year or next). I'd feel even better about it if I knew that Rogers was going to be healthy because I think that he can be a reasonable WR3.

I really don't think Bryant is going to command big money next year but then again, the way teams throw money at WR's you never know. I would rather keep him to try and get #7 and then get a comp pick for him
