I've seen 6 year old soccer games with more contact than that.

It's a nice recognition for the players but they should stop playing the game. List out the players, give a little bonus, and call it a day.
I'm with you Ghost. I don't watch any all star game in any sport. All of them are a waste of time and an injury risk that shouldn't have to be taken.

I watched the NHL All Star game yesterday. They were really creative with the setup, and it's fun to watch.

You get to see the same amount of icetime as a regular game (60 minutes total), but instead of three 20 minute periods between 2 teams, you get three 20 minute minigames between 4 teams.

They made it into a 4 team divisional mini tournament. Pacific Division played the Central Division in a 20 minute minigame (split into two 10 minute periods), then Atlantic Divison played the Metropolitan Division in a 20 minute minigame, then the two winners face off against one another in the final 20 minute minigame, with a $1 million payout on the line for players on the winning squad.

They also made it a 3 on 3 tournament rather than the usual 5 on 5, which if you've seen any regular season overtime hockey, is really faced paced open ice fun. Since they know that there is not much defense played in All Star games to begin with, they decided to open up the action even further. Might as well go with it...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I have the skills competition recorded. My son wants to me wait for him so we can watch that one together (schedules for 16 year olds are kinda nuts...hopefully we can get to it this week sometime).

I bet squid watched the whole game cursing at the screen anytime a Steeler player was on it.

Did you root against them too? LOL

They play football for a living, it's a game, they lost a game, they would have liked to have won the game but they weren't good enough to beat Jax on that day, no one died on the operating table and they didn't have to figure out if a pre-emptive strike on NOKO should be launched. It's a chance to play with some of the guys you are always knocking heads against, the players enjoy getting a chance to play a game with players that are normally opponents. At least, I know my kids did when they got to play in high school all-star games. Granted, the game sucks (the Probowl), but I think the players enjoy a chance to play with guys they don't normally.
