    Mike Tomlin/ Don Shula...

I was just thinking how Mike Tomlin reminds me of Don Shula in the sense that 10 years after he took Miami to the Super Bowl with Dan Marino, the Dolphins were still trying to roll Shula out there as a creditable coach. Those team would sometimes creep into the playoffs but were dispatched.

It’s been 10 years; and Tomlin has had a franchise qb his whole tenure. But refuses to put together a real defense ( like Shula used to do) and thinks the all world offense can bail him out ( like Shula used to think about Marino’s arm)

Tomlins systems and philosophy’s have been by passed by a jags team in two years. What does that tell you that a team can just come along and bypass us in a two year span?

I don't think MT doesn't want to put a defense together, I just think that the drafts have yielded far better offensive players than defensive and it feels like we're always looking for defensive players.

hey, dont compare the two. shulas team never showboated and danced the way tomlins team does after getting a first down or td. especially when down by 21 points to an inferior team

That may be but Steel Maniac stated that he didn't think Tomlin wanted to put good defenses on the field and focused on offense, my statement was that the defensive players drafted haven't turned out as well as the offensive. Maybe the offensive scouts are better than the defensive, maybe Tomlin likes offense better than defense, I don't know, I'm just saying that offensive players seem to turn out better than the defensive players drafted.

Let's be honest, this is all that matters. People don't remember championships, they remember dances and sweet TD celebrations.

5 of our last 7 premium draft picks (rounds 1-3) have been on defense...

Not having Shazier exposed the middle of the defense, it's hard to know how bad they really is when 50 is all world.

Like I said, there's still talent on the D, even without Shazier. Definitely enough talent to hold an inept offense (without literally their only weapon for half the game) to under 35pts. Butler is a terrible DC.

And, I don't think they've turned out as good as the offensive players drafted. Bell, Brown, Villanueva, Pouncey, DeCastro, hell, even Nix has turned himself into a really good fullback, while except for Shazier, Timmons, and possibly Watt the defensive player aren't panning out. Heyward is getting accolades, but how many times after games this year were their questions about his play, Tuitt comes and goes, Dupree disappeared the 2nd half of the season, we don't even have to talk about Jarvis Jones, Burns seems to be going in the wrong direction, Davis, who knows, it just seems that the defensive guys don't turn into the players that the Steelers expect.

I guess the Jags had a poor performance today too. That being said, the Jags have more play makers on the defensive side of the ball. Jags play makers scored a TD and gave their offense a short field to score another TD. The Steelers need more play makers. They also need to get better at stopping the run and giving up big plays. I don't know if they need a scheme change or something else to get better in that area.

Far too many breakdowns on defense, the TJ Yeldon dump off for 40 yards, Bortles with multiple scrambles for back breaking 1st downs, and the lone pass over 12 yards that was completed for 40 plus yard gain, it's like the football IQ of some of the defensive players is negative. Bortles' runs happened because the outside edge rushers got too far upfield at some point you have to realize the tackle is simply pushing you out of the play, the Yeldon play was just a losing sight of the guy after you defended the play for 5 seconds and the deep ball was covered by two cornerbacks, where in the hell is the safety?

Sadly yes, but we had 40 days to find a replacement.
They chose a guy who was out of football.
Not the players fault just saying.
But of course this is your schtick.
You'll now continue to make excuses for everything that happened today and this year.
I mean if it makes you feel better thats great, but dont continuously put others down because they don't share your opinions.
