    Le'Veon your timing sucks...

ok so all the talk about Mitchell, this is not something I think a player should discuss during the biggest game of the season (or the next one, or the next one if you are lucky)...

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/11/leveon-bell-threatens-to-sit-out-next-season-if-steelers-franchise-him/

Look you can say well he was asked...but Le'Veon could've very well used a cliché and said...dude all I want to do is focus on the Jaguars. We can talk about that kind of stuff at the end of the season.

I am sure this will ingratiate him with the fan base...especially if they lose this weekend and he is a disappointment.

What is it with the Steelers and there inability to focus on the task at hand?

I may be jumping to conclusions but in looking at the Pats links on PFT...Brady says its about focus, Belechik says Cooks never takes a play off.

You can chalk that up to bias and that is fine...but Le'Veon is the one that opened his mouth up when Jeremy Fowler asked.

How does that mean he isn’t focused on the Jaguars? I’m sure that Le’Veon is aware that excellent playoff performances will only enhance his value for future contacts...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

He might be... but it is still potentially a distraction to the team. As brothervad stated, the timing sucks.

I love Bell, but this sort of thing is a distraction (however, small). There have been posts talking about how well this team has handled all the distractions so far this year. That's fair enough, but I'd prefer less distractions and drama to handle in the first place. Perhaps Tomlin should let Bell know (quietly) this is not appreciated. Perhaps he already has.

Why did Jeremy Fowler open his mouth and ask a question like that? At this time.

Bell is as dumb as he is good. We do not need him to win. He is way too expensive to even consider to re-sign. He is a RB. He is not bringing all the chips to the table. After this year, just let him go off into the sunset.

His agent is leveraging Ben's possible retirement "by keeping the team together" statements.

It's a business and he isn't all that important. Not 16-20 million important.

I wish LeVeon would learn when to keep his piehole shut.

A simple “no comment” on his contract situation would have been a proper response. IMO

Well it was obviously enough for someone else to consider it a potential distraction that Le'Veon felt the need to amend his original comments...

                    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/11/leveon-bell-says-hes-not-thinking-about-next-year/

A couple of responses to comments prior...

I did not say whether or not it was a distraction for Le'Veon and the Jags...what I said that should've been his canned response to the question in the first place.

It may become a distraction if other teammates, coaches get asked about it throughout the week and into next week. That is always a potential downside to opening your mouth.

Suggesting Jeremy Fowler not asking the question is kind of unrealistic given that a) he works for a company that wants to almost be Jerry Springer of sports (ESPN) "oh no he didn't!" b) He is a reporter who will look to ask any potential question that he has had in his wheelhouse when given the opportunity.

I would suggest that Le'Veon posting again within hours..stating he is focused this season is kind of proof positive this was a error in judgement on his/his agents part IMHO.

I am certain his future contract situation was on his mind the entire season. It didn't appear to affect his performance. For me this isn't a big deal.

How is this a distraction? It’s a business. Would I prefer he said no comment? Sure... but it’s his future and I’m sure he wants to put the team on notice. I still think Bell is going to ball out because he knows doing anything less will hurt his chances at a long term deal.

As as far as not needing him and winning without him? Sure, we can win some games but will we have a 13-3 season without Bell next year? Hellllllll nooooo

I think we need to some type of test before letting folks post on here.

Have you seen his stats the last 3 years?

He has broken all types of records. Just... just no. Cmon man.

Not a good time to be "Putting the team on notice" dizz... Plenty of time for that in the off season. Nothing positive comes out of crap like this.

"On his mind" is fine... "On his mind" not a distraction. In the press 2 days before the divisional round (for all to read).. different story. I think the retraction within an hour or two of the original story... speaks volumes.
