Why are people assuming the Steelers' FO didn't know James would sign with the Pats?

It seems silly that people would think that random dudes on twitter could predict the Pats signing James, but the FO hadn't considered that possibility. If it was really a concern of theirs, they would've just kept him on the roster. People are putting way too much stock in this signing and to be honest, this has the look and feel of "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is". Get the distinct feeling this is going to blow up in the Patriots' collective faces.

what do they have to lose?
they will gain valuable info on our defense and offense and get a player that is pissed off and will have something to prove
not sure how this could blow up

seems pretty low risk on their part to me

cost them 60 grand to get a close look for a week and see if he has anything left

Apparently Harrison didn't want to remain with the Steelers. So the Steelers gave him his release.

Not gonna lie, this theory of mine made a lot more sense before I read how much of a cancer Deebo had become in the locker room. Here's hoping this proves "addition by subtraction" for all of our sake.

There is nothing James Harrison can tell the Pats that they don't already know.
                Are you that naive?
                Obtuse?

                When we win you disappear.

Now i know why Slap and Felt treat you like they do....

Basically. I’m sure they knew it was highly possible. I’m just hoping he gives them terrible intel.

I don't think he'd sell us out. I could be wrong though. When it's all said and done, he's a Steeler for life. He just wants a chance go play football these last few weeks of his career.

I hope you're right. If the things said about him by Pouncey and Dupree are true, though, that would give me pause.
