8 Steelers selected to Pro Bowl

Bell, Brown, Ben, Boswell, DeCastro, Pouncey, Villanueva and Shazier.

All but Ben and Shazier voted in as starters. Most players since 2005 (9).

And somehow Heyward gets snubbed again.

Hope zero show since that will mean we’re in the Super Bowl.

Boswell is borderline, but AV definitely should not have made it. Cam and maybe even Vince are more deserving.

Ridiculous. The fact that AV made it (just proves that it's nothing but a popularity contest. I'm losing faith in the NFL and fans.

Cam was robbed! Some of these selections are just for name recognition. Cam Heyward should have definitely made over Geno Atkins. AV - was my biggest surprise. I think he is the weak link on our line!

You may be right, but in my opinion that speaks to the quality of our line. I think AV has grown into a more than serviceable LT, considering how rarely Ben got hit this year with him on the blind side. That said, I suspect he got in in honor of his military service as much or more than his performance on the field.

I'm pretty sure that was a military nod due to the flag debacle. I can't see how AV is considered one of the best LT's this year.

I'm not mad at it but it's one of those things that make you wonder if folks really care about the actual game of football.

Justin Tucker is certainly a better kicker than Boswell, but Boz has probably had the better year. He has made a ton of huge kicks this year.

MORE THAN SERVICEABLE is not supposed to equal pro bowler. It's how you describe Hubbard as a replacement tackle.

As you acknowledge, it is about the flag hullabaloo. I'm cool with it but pure Steelers bias is behind that.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

AV and Pouncey don't deserve the ProBowl nod imho. And Heyward has established himself as one of the best 3-4 DEs in the game (aside from JJ Watt who is a different beast).

I would say it's not even close that AV or Pouncey are deserving. And it's a complete shame Heyward didn't make it, but unfortunately he plays in the worst possible position to earn any league wide respect.

The Steelers have become a great pass blocking team and they are above average in run blocking. I would also suggest they have probably the toughest job in the NFL blocking for a QB that will hold the ball forever and blocking for a RB that will wait vs hitting a hole 9 times out of 10. As a unit, I think they've been fantastic. But other than Decastro and possibly Gilbert when he's on, none of these guys stand out as potential pro bowlers to me. In my mind, Hubbard and Foster are as deserving of being pro bowlers as AV and Pouncey. And it's not a knock on any one. I like all these guys across the board.

Which means that they took into account this year's performance and rewarded the guy that had the best year, that's a good thing. Tucker is probably the better kicker, but not this year, so, imo, they got it right.
