We wouldn't. The coaches, who see him in practice every day, who see him try to cover our backups running spread offenses, would.

Point taken.. however, many of us have been wanting increased reps for JH for weeks. He can still have an impact on the game...

I think I just read that HOU is expected to start a rookie LT on Monday. This would be a big-time opportunity to get Deebo some reps. Let him work over the rookie, which he most assuradly would. Then let him go against CLE when we'll have clinched our bye hopefully, and if you need him in the playoffs, some of the rust will have been knocked off.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

          Coaches?
Early on, "coaches" cut him multiple times before Porter left.
Fans called for him to get PT whenever he came in for an injury, but he remained a backup. Why? Coaches.

More recently, "coaches" saw him in practice and had him behind Jarvis Jones for 2 years.
LAST SEASON (we aint talking a decade ago) our defense made DRAMATIC strides forward when he was restored as a starter.
I didnt see no our coverage tank when he played, to the contrary pass defense improved immensely partially because our pass rush improved.

Heck Joey said before the season, JH was going to be limited, just like he said last year when JH proved him wrong.

Coaches have underestimated JHs value many times, so I take zero assurance that his play in practice has any bearing on his PT.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

          TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

He did last year. Heck the ONE GAME he had meaningful reps this season, he had an impact.

This is definitely his last year. I thought we would see more of him as the season progressed but at 11-3 I don't think the coaches should be bashed for how they handled JH thus far.
