No Dizz. He was not responsible while DL was coach.
You miss the point, He WAS THERE the whole time.

Butler had over a decade to "figure it out" before he was the guy making the calls Dizz.

Bottom line is when DL was confident in his corners in 2011 HE DID feature tight coverage and HELD THE PATS TO 17.
Oh and we won that game.

6 years later, after a decade and a half on the sidelines Butler plays tight coverage allowed 27 while losing to the Pats for the 3rd straight time and he figured out something DL didnt know?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Long enough to lead the league in pass defense thrice my friend. I believe that leads all current head coaches.
Done WITHOUT a single Pro Bowl level cornerback.

Our last SB victory season we were number 1 in the following:

      -Passing yards allowed
      -Total Yards Allowed
      -Points allowed
      -Net yards per pass attempt

      We allowed 12 TD passes

It is well documented that for the SB he COACHED his defense SPECIFICALLY about blocking on a any interception to make sure they SCORED on a turnover. That was the difference in the game.

Ike was Pro Bowl level, but otherwise, you're right.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Dude could stick like glue to a receiver. Too bad the football did not work that way with his hands.
Corners who are as known for bad hands as they are great coverage does not a probowler make my man.

Name the exception to that statement.

I'm agreeing with you, man. I agreed that the coaching staff has done a good job in general. All I was pointing out was that we did have a Pro Bowl level guy here.

ok. Just making sure you aren’t blaming Butler for Lebeaus shortcomings vs the Pats.

There were a lot of losses where we gave up more than 17 points vs the Pats with LeBeau

I've watched more than my fair share of the Pats**.
The only times they lose: Brady is rushed, and their two main receivers are blanketed, maimed, injured or out for the game for some reason. -Both- have to happen.

DL would typically give Brady loads of cushion and loads of time. Even when they rushed him, the WRs had room. You don't beat Brady that way.

Overall, the D didn't play particularly horribly last Sunday. But letting Gronk run free was not right. Haden may have made the difference.

The main reasons we lost: JJ's TD, and the prior two series where we punted. One more first down was all it took.

CP is going to cling to the last W in Heinz Field and act like it was the only time LeBeau had a chance to press the WR’s.

There were other times when we were the number one D or top 5 in most categories and we still saw the cushion.

One me of the Steelers said LeBeau finally threw the old playbook away and said screw it, let’s do something different and that’s when we had success on D. Granted that was also the time our offense sustained drives and scored before the Pats.

Not buying it one bit that Lebeau only had one team that was good enough to play tight at the LOS.

Cowhers players? You wanna talk "Cowhers players? Rather than attack this ridiculous contention....lets ride with it.

Dude I am about to slay you so bad with your silly reasoning you best be ashamed to even TRY to defend your assertion. My advice friend....pretend you never saw this as I destroy your argument to such a degree you will have to go "Aints" on this board (gotta be old to know that reference). Lets start:

You wanna go with sayin it was Cowhers players? You want to go there? Let's do it bro.

FACT 1. "Cowhers players" inherited by Tomlin NEVER EVER had the number one pass defense under Cowher.
FACT 2.Tomlin inherited the TWENTIETH ranked pass defense from Cowher.
FACT 3. Even the year they won the SB Cowhers team was 16th in pass defense.
FACT 4. Cowhers pass defense was DIGRESSING for 3 straight seasons (4th, 16th, 20th) when Tomlin took over.
FACT 5. Cowher NEVER EVER had the leagues top pass defense during his entire career.....Even with the likes of HOF cornerback Rod Woodson and Carnell Lake.

Season number ONE with Tomlins led "Cowhers players" from 20th ranked pass defense under Cowher to number 3 (fewer pass yard than ANY Cowher team).......in ONE SEASON- That my friend is coaching
Season number TWO Tomlin takes Cowhers 20th ranked pass defense players to number 1 (Cowher has NEVER had a number 1 pass defense ever)
Tomlin had the number one pass defense two more times.....with Cowhers 20th ranked players.

A total of four times Tomlin took 20th ranked Cowher pass defense talent to levels of play that NO pass defense of Cowhers has ever reached.

AND he coached 2 number 1 pass defenses as DB coach for the bucs. Cowher has never been a part of a number 1 pass defense.

                        See what I just did?
Destroy you with YOUR OWN weak logic.

PLUEEESE call them Cowhers players. "Great coaching" took that secondary to heights it never saw under Cowher.

wow, i stand corrected. our pass defense yards allowed(not tds) was pretty good the first few years under tomlin.
i wonder why those numbers didnt stay that high after cowhers players left and tomlins drafts took over?
man, one would think with all that superior coaching and superior talent tomlin would have more superbowls that the one he won with all of cowhers starters....hmmmm

                              1) Again, they were all Tomlin’s players. When they were “Cowher’s players” the previous year, they went 8-8...

Nice try Captain, but you cannot reason with "kid". It should be very obvious why he opposes Tomlin and will never give him credit for being the excellent head coach that I think he has proven to be. Reasoning with "kid" is tantamount to attempting to reason with a wild-eyed individual in a lynch mob or someone participating in a race riot trying to prevent school desegregation.

Their emotions and biases rule their thinking, not rational thinking.
