Vegas rule, like I said before. I didn't even watch the game and don't know who the rule was in favor for. But I would put 200$ on whoever the money was favored on, got the call.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

Just like yesterday GB vs Carolina, it was called a catch and fumble.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

On the throw I think you can say that's just as much on Ben. It was high and wide. JJ was open and Ben could have put it in his chest and in stride and he easily goes in standing up. Certainly a makeable catch but a better throw and he doesn't have to try and do something extra to get the TD.sigpicComment

I watched a Carolina player catch a ball with half his body out of the end zone and it was ruled a TD. Even their own TE and future commentator Olsen thought it wasn't a catch and was mad they challenged it. You know it's bad when your own team mate doesn't think it's a catch and it then shrugs his shoulders like "wow, I don't know whats a catch anymore"
It was originally ruled incomplete.

no, it's not. and not really that new, either... at least several years old now.
if you catch the ball while going to the ground, you must maintain control through contact with the ground. Dez Bryant had it a few years back. Calvin Johnson a year or two before that.
by rule, it's not a catch. I don't like the rule, but, it's clearly not a catch by letter of the law... and it's called pretty consistently.2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

That's a catch. Common sense is the key. Wish is was applied more often.Agreed. I was hoping I’d feel better about this game the morning after. I think I’m more PO’d. Some common sense needs to be applied to the rules at some point. JJ caught the ball, turned and crossed the goal line with possession. Sucks it’s a TD for a running play and not for a catch.
This game is going to bother me for awhile.sigpicComment

The current rule is WAY better than the "football move" rule it replaced. The current rule requires much less subjectivity from the officiating crew on the field and in NY.
I think that's a win....just sucks that JJ didn't maintain possession of the ball.Comment

It’s called consistently when it’s an opponent of the Pats*... lolno, it's not. and not really that new, either... at least several years old now.

There were so many other mistakes, brain cramps, etc. during the game that trying to hang this on a guy trying to make a play to win the game for the team is wrong.

James catches the ball near his head, brings it towards his chest, lunges towards the endzone and only "looses" the ball after his knee and elbow are down with the ball over the goal line. Maybe it's just me and my refusal to believe that wasn't a catch, but you can't blame the guy for making a play that common sense says is a touchdown.sigpicComment
