        I’m jealous.

A friend asked me if I wanted to go because he had an extra ticket but since I’m spending Christmas in Pittsburgh I declined. Plus I have 2 little ones and last second plans are damn near impossible to make.

        Enjoy the game!!!

I'll be there, but not early enough to tailgate. My father and I drive out that morning and drive back that night, over 5 hours each way. If either of you will be way up in the end zone bleacher nosebleed seats like me, feel free to stop by to Section 525, row FF, seats 25-26 and say hi.

At least it's not another primetime game. I can't take any more of them.

For the GB game, we were able to leave the stadium around midnight. I drove the first 2 hours, then was able to sleep for a couple hours in the car after that (my father recently retired, but is used to working swing shifts overnight for most of his life, so he doesn't mind driving all night). We get back to my dad's place by 5:30 a.m. and I get a couple more hours of sleep on his couch, then get to work for a 8:30-4:30 shift (luckily only in front of a computer).

For the Baltimore game, we weren't able to leave Pittsburgh until 1:00 a.m. I drove the first 2 hours again, but was not able to sleep in the car after that. We got back to his place at 6:30, and instead of hitting the couch, I just got changed, brushed my teeth, and headed to the office for a 7:00-3:00 shift. I passed out for a couple of hours as soon as I got home, but then had to bring my daughter to swim practice and pick my son up at his job at the movie theater. Dad stuff never ends. I was a zombie at work on Monday and it seemed like the longest day, but then it seemed like Tuesday at work absolutely flew by.

After this game, I'll get to be able to be in my own bed by 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. Much better. Although we'll have to stop at the same restaurant about an hour outside of Pittsburgh for our pregame meal (lunch this time instead of dinner, though).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Dude, you're a hero. And I mean that sincerely.

Some day you'll get to watch games with your kids, who'll rush off afterwards to tend to their own..

Hero is quite a bit over the top, but I definitely try to do my part to try to keep the ol' offspring engaged in such sporting endeavors as well. They may not be as maniacal about it as I was at their age (and still am now, I suppose), but my kids enjoy going to the games with me as well when my father isn't quite up for the long trip. My wife and my mother are no longer interested in making such a trek anymore, so they are happy to stay home where it's warm during these fall and winter Sundays.

I usually try to take them each out at least once per season, although when they go, it is typically for a full weekend instead of trying to pull off the up-and-back in the same day, so that my son can also enjoy the Carnegie Science Center or my daughter can enjoy the Andy Warhol Museum or whatever (possibly even a Pens game the night before when the schedules line up, since they both seem to be into hockey more than football overall).

My voice is usually non-existent on Mondays from all the screaming when we are on defense...I'm still working on getting them to yell when we are on D instead of checking their phones for most of the game...they are both really into music, so stuff like Renegade and Paint It Black tends to fire them up. We're getting there. Go Steelers!
